So you're telling me if Lin was putting up good numbers, and playing well that Houston would have handled this the same? Come on man.

It has nothing to do with how good or bad anyone is or any other scenario. Putting another player from another franchise in your jersey while you are still on that team is straight up disrespectful & makes the Houston franchise look like a bunch of a-holes.

Exactly. If this was Robert Covington's number, he would have the right to feel disrespected, and I think some of the people attacking Lin right now would either be silent or even support him.

Just another real gm thread that makes it easy to separate the idiots out.

Obviously you say this, you want him in Chicago. The reality is that Lin hasn't played up to his contract, so why would he expect his employer to be happy with him?

Regardless of his play on the court you have numbers 1 through 100 why the heck are you gunna use the number of a player still on your team for a guy that might or might not come.

Disrespectful move by the rockets plain and simple...you don't disrespect an employee, and thats what they did

I dont see why some people have a problem with this...It's jeremy lin compared to melo...

morey's presentation involved him using a pic of melo in his current jersey number holding a nba title. It wouldnt have been the same effect if it was melo with a blank rockets jersey on. Lin is just butthurt.

Rockets did the same exact same thing last year with beverley for dwight and beverley didnt get hurt. Lin is average anyway so even if he gets pissed we could easily find an upgrade once we let him go.

This (the topic of this thread) is the type of thing that has me down on the organization. And this is not an outlier, IMO.

It's sad. Things don't have to be done this way. But they are done this way. And that is why people become alienated, IMO.

I've been a fan for less than 10 years, but this makes no sense to me. Was it more fun to root for the coked up Rockets who wasted years of Hakeem's genius? Was it more fun to root for that moron Steve Francis who could never play winning basketball? Was it more fun with "Somebody tell Kelvin Cato we want our money back?", or all the horrible moves Carrol Dawson did as the manager of the Rockets?
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?

Handling this differently based on a player's performance speaks volumes about your incompetence as a manager, or organization as a whole.

Exactly, I really don't get why people are upset now if they weren't upset last year. They literally think Lin should get special treatment because he is asian

Is that you Melo?

Yes, you're great.

Yes, you're better than Jeremy Lin.

Yes, he played beyond his talent during the Linsanity era but not as far beyond it as some fans make it to sound

When you come into a workplace there is a certain type of courtesy extended to you because you are now amongst a cohesive unit working towards helping the business...you don't go disrespecting one of your employee's to entice another fellow applicant

And that same action for beverley is wrong too, i guess he just deals with it better...but regardless you want to promote an environment where everyone takes care of each other...it builds chemistry, and keeps people happy...and when ppl aren't happy thats when ish gets wild, so why go through all this trouble when you could've simply used another number?

I just think its stupid on Morey's part.

That is so true.

Most chinese (and asian people for that matter), you never hear them b*tching and complaining about it all the time. That's what makes it even sadder IMO. They just put up with life and make the best with what they have and move on.

BTW I would absolutely LOVE to have Lin on the Hornets! Perfect attitude and demeanor. Great for the team in more ways than on the court.

MJ is not paying 15 million for Lin plus 9 million still owed to Tyrus. I would take him with 2 1st though.

My goodness, Rockets fans showing the same arrogance as their organization does. You don't disrespect a current player of yours, even if he is undisputedly the worst in the world, period.

Yep and the sad part is that we cant say anything bad about Lin or we would be considered "racist" :banghead:

They've been openly star chasing for years I'm sure ownership could care less.

What a classless move by the Rockets. I lost a lot of respect for that organization today. We talk about loyalty from players. How about some loyalty from the team as well? Even if Lin is going to be moved, show him some respect and dignity.
