How can it be called a fire sale if you move one guy to free minutes for a better player?

Was thinking more of a first domino piece falling for Denver and they start getting players/picks for a rebuild.

Mozgov will fill #Cavs trade exception. After this, they'll have their own 1st round picks in '15, '17 and beyond. No 2nd rounder until 2020

2 firsts for Mozgov.

Pelicans gave up one protected first for Omer Asik

2015 first round draft pick from Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City's 1st round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 1-18 in 2015, 1-15 in 2016 and 1-15 in 2017; if Oklahoma City has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Cleveland by 2017, then Oklahoma City will instead convey its 2018 2nd round pick and 2019 2nd round pick to Cleveland [Cleveland-New York-Oklahoma City, 1/5/2015]

Chicago has rights to swap picks with the Cavs this year they likely won't so they also have their own 2015 pick however because they have already traded their 2016 pick to Boston I do not think they are eligible to trade their own 2015 pick.
The Memphis pick is guaranteed lottery for 2015/2016 which is interesting if Gasol leaves (which I doubt he will) otherwise its a 2017 non-lottery pick.

OKC pick is heavily protected. Late first rounder when it will be conveyed.

It's a solid haul but these picks given their protections aren't that valuable. I can see why it took both of them to get Mosgov.

Just wanted to point this out.
As of right now, Chicago would swap picks. Until the Cavs pass us in the standings (if that ever happens), we are swapping.

Wow, Lebron must really have the Cavs organization by its balls.

DO THIS NOW OR I WALK.

Its an overpay for sure and no way Denver can say no to that. That being said smart for Cleveland too. They need to make the move and make it now so they did. This isn't a franchise that should be playing for 2017 when these picks come back around.

I don't think the Cavs have been run all that well but turning Waiters and a Memphis 1st into Shumpert, Mozgov plus a lottery ticket in JR Smith is pretty solid. Turned 1 rotation player into 3. They need that depth desperately.
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

Great trade, really gives Cleveland some much needed size inside.

He's not mobile, and he's no kid with a ton of upside (28), but this is still a great move for Cleveland.

Who knows what they'll get on paper, but I think this means Denver will win the lottery next year.

HU? Because they gave up Mozgov? Lol. Even if you believe the NBA lotto is fixed and they reward teams... giving the Cavs a marginal big man does not qualify. If the Lotto is fixed... NYK will be winning it this year.

If we win it it'll be because we have the best chances. If LA wins it the lotto is fixed.

"Last season, Mozgov allowed opponents to shoot just 47.1 percent within five feet of the rim as a primary defender," wrote ESPN Insider Kevin Pelton (subscription required), "putting him in the top 10 among players who defended at least six such shots per game."

With Shump/Lebron, this should be a top 10 defensive team. Now all they need to do is glue Mike Miller to the bench and give all his minutes to Joe Harris

Can't believe they gave up two 1st's for Moz. They better win a title with this specific group because I'm not sure how they'll be able to improve going forward.

They need to get a lot better. Quickly.

Do gm`s want the caves to get better. It feel like everytime lebron is down and ready to go on a losing spree some gm helps the caves get right back up. I mean this is called gift wrapping good players to a already powerful team. Who is behind all this crazyness? Let them figure it out, why give them a starting center knowing that's all they want. 2 first round picks from the caves are like the 27th and 28th pick. Now they right back on top again plus have there lockdown defender in shumpert. The NBA is ridged

Too early to tell. Depends heavily on the coach who has not been impressive in the least thus far.

cavs have done really well in the last couple of days. Kyrie, Lebron, Shump, Love, Mozgod starting 5 is solid. JR/TT off the bench isn't terrible either. i think they'll be the 2nd best team in the east come playoffs.

As an overall player, Mozgov was nowhere near a healthy Varejao. This guy was on track to be a starting EC all-star before all the injuries started piling in.

This isn't an actual improvement over the Cavs roster w/ Varejao in it.
