or Parsons still on his rookie deal

and Losing him has had effects, Houston's offense is looking worse than last year with only 1 play maker.

Over 60% of his FGAs are coming from the 3 point line and he is only shooting 32% from 3 point line. No surprise that he hasn't had a game above 50% from the field.

Leave it to my Knicks to put this streak to rest.
Pay no mind to the battles you've won
It'll take a lot more than rage and muscle
Open your heart and hands, my son
Or you'll never make it over the river

For their careers Parsons is a 2.7% better three point shooter so lets not get carried away. However, the part you're missing is that Ariza is a far better defender while Parsons is a better creator. It was a win-win for both teams. Ariza is cheaper and a better fit for Houston because all they need from that spot is 3&D which Ariza is better suited for and Parsons fits nicely for Dallas.

Also, lets not forget Ariza's playoff run with the Lakers where he shot something like 50% on threes for the whole post-season en route to a title. He also shot well last year with the Wizard in the playoffs. He seems to turn it on when it matters.

Fact is that momentum in games is a real thing, while not tangible itself, you can tangibly see the effect it has when teams are on runs and how it can dramatically effect the outcome of games when you can generate any momentum.

They don't "need" a 3rd scorer. The Rockets just need to gel and improve internally. The culture that Ariza brought with him alone makes him a better fit than Parsons.
