In my youth, I never actually heard about this. That was a very interesting read, thanks.

To hold a grudge against a guy like John Stockton of all people makes you a likely prick by default, but the lengths he went to undermine the team is outrageous.

Meh I don't think it was a grudge per se. There are just people in this world that would step on anyone or anything to get what they want. Doesn't help that Stockton is more or less an introvert, the type of person that tends to fall prey to people like Jackson (if indeed this is true).

LOL Mark Jackass is an ****. It was one of the best days in my life when I heard he got sacked... Because I knew he was holding the team back and we were good in spite of him not because of him. Steve Kerr has only just proven that more.

Also no surprise that Jackson has turned on the "Judases" that were not religious. Look what he is doing to Bogut... Also completely classless of Jackspn during the broadcast to say "Rim protection is overrated" and that the Warriors are just as good defensively or better without Bogut.... Which is a flat out lie.

This story fits the pattern of his time at GS. He wanted only yes-men for assistants. Assistants who weren't were plotted against. He shut Jim Barnett out of practice. Jim freakin Barnett. If you can't get along with Jim, who might as well just be called the "nice guy of the NBA", something is wrong with you. Jackson is incredibly insecure and also not very knowledgeable about basketball. The latter I find surprising but his attempts to take the GS team back to 90's iso ball shows that he is stuck in the past. He created an "us vs them" attitude with his players. "Them" was not just the opponent, but anyone inside the Warriors organization who had ideas independent of Jackson, including ownership.

It takes a pretty special effort for what was it... 200 GSW employees that despised Jackson. How you can have that many people in 1 organization hate/dislike you takes some sort of effort.

It concerns me (although I shouldn't be surprised given my experience with religious cults) that most of the team loved Jackson. The 2 main players that it appears had a problem with Jackson were Bogut and Barnes (best friends)... and they were unsurprisingly both "on the outer" when it came to the religious side. It's a pretty good example of how cult leaders are able to control people. Even basketballers as mentally strong as Steph Curry, were conned by Jackson into believing he was the nicest man on the planet and the only one looking out for him.

FWIW I have no evidence that Barnes had a problem with MJ's religious nature. (He may have, but I've found no signs.) What I *have* found signs of is that Barnes thought MJ was a poor coach who was misusing him. I used to get upset at all the iso's Barnes did and then I learned Barnes was upset at them too - and he was being told to do them by Jackson.
