I know one thing, I'll be betting the team total over this year for Blazer opponents.

I don't hate Kanter as much as most people around here do but why is Portland interested in him? Their front court is already pretty crowded.

We are still 20 mil away from the salary floor, why not? Makes some of our other bigs expendable trade pieces.

It sounds like a power move from Portland.

Might just be to weaken a division rival.

Same reason the T'wolves signed Batum to an offer sheet a few years back. To mess with a division team. On the off chance that the contract is not matched the Blazers get the player like with Wes but more likely the offer is matched like with Milsap.

Kevin Durant is a free agent exactly one year from now.

If OKC spends $70M on Kanter, it will be because of that. If OKC doesn't match Portland's offer, then they might as well give up on ever keeping Durant, and trade before he enters his final season.

I kinda hope Portland keeps Kanter. He would be a very good replacement for Aldridge. OKC has a couple bigs all ready to take up the slack in Adams and that other guy, mcgary??

True, but it's not about that, it's about okc potential letting another valuable young piece leave to save money. Contrast that to what say Dan Gilbert is doing, and I think a guy like Durant would want to go somewhere where his owner is willing to pay to get him he help he needs in his prime years. Bennett made tons of money when the team was all on rookie contracts. Now it's time to pay that luxury tax.

He has, and I'd bet he will. That said, OKC was still better with Kanter off the court than on it. I'd still be very surprised if they don't match, and really at this point it kinda benefits them that PDX offered because he'll only get 4.5 percent raises instead of 7.5.

True but 70 mil IS 70 mil but I feel for ya bon, I'm sure you guys don't WANT to pay him avg 17.5mil/yr. 12-14 might've been more tolerable?

Gonna be interesting how this plays out. Do you even want him back at 70mil now?

Honestly?

No, I'd rather Koufos at what he got or I'd take a sign and trade for a backup big, I'd rather play Adams. Kanter was a net negative on court in OKC.

Very glad to see that Blazers are not going into full-on tank, try to win.
