What on earth do people see in Ty Lawson that makes them think Curry will have to work some absorbent amount to defend him? Yeah I guess Curry will be a little more tired. he'll make 6 three pointers instead of 7.
I do believe defending irving will tire someone at least a little more out, so that's a good point about the Finals vs the Cavs.
I agree that there's nothing wrong with he said, but I think the different in stephen curry's energy will be very small. the main reason curry had so much energy was because he played around 30 minutes a game all season long because the warriors blew opponents out. I consider it a disrespect to curry or any star to think that playing D on non-all star level point guard will be difference in tiring them out after an 82 game season. Tired legs will result from long seasons, not someone defending you for a few games.
It's also possible Curry will have MORE energy because he won't be using any energy to blow by his defender (lawson) when he's on offense.
Two things.
First I fully agree with your last point, can't agree more actually. Curry might even save more energy blowing pass Lawson, compared to someone say, Conley, or Jrue Holiday. That's what this whole conversation of Beverly vs Lawson who should start is for, because we appreciate his offensive skill but also concerns over his defense, especially paired with Harden.
On the other hand, using Warriors destroying Nuggets (or Curry to Lawson for that matter) is not a good reference. It's not like those two play 1-on-1 the whole game. In offense, Bogut can set solid screens to take Lawson away, GSW's motion offense can end up Nuggets players chasing shadows. In defense, GSW boasting a best defensive unit in the league with flexible rotation is a challenge to everybody. Rather than simply look at the impact of having Lawson go against Curry, it's more for the team to come up with better offensive and defensive schemes to take Curry's impact away, both ends of the floor. Basketball is 5 vs 5.
