Its a tough call. Adams isn't the rim protector that Whiteside is. I might go Adams due to age & personality alone.

If you think of Portland specifically, I don't see age being an issue one way or another. Whiteside is actually closer in age with the core of Lillard and CJ, so its kinda a moot point imo.

I'd be happy with either. I just lean toward Adams. More potential. Age factor helps. Good locker room guy as well. Seems like he would be a good fit. Portland type personality too.

I love when people from LA act like it's trading up moving there from Miami. At best its a lateral move.

There are cap holds on other players (like Wade). Can they sign whiteside to a max with those cap holds in place?

They indeed can but they wouldn't have enough room for another significant piece, which is something Riley wants. So unless Wade takes a big pay cut or they move Dragic, there won't be any other major moves if they were to max out Whiteside.

They can? I thought they had to renounce Wade to give whiteside the max.

No they just have to resign Wade first. Wade cap hold is like 30 million and he won't get paid nearly that amount.

He would have to pay an additional 13% of his income to the the state in April. Overall market value for homes in California is around 15% more expensive in LA than Miami. The climate is slightly nicer in LA. The scenery is MUCH nicer in LA. Things to do is about equal. Quality of life is a wash. Quality of population is also a wash. If he's about his money and winning, he'll pick Miami.
