it doesn't matter
as long as he is working hard to improve he can still improve his game
how many 18-19 years old get drafted in the top 10 and turn out to be bust?
you can't teach height and length
Thon Maker got that
now it is up to him if he want to improve his game
IMO, the development a player goes through ages 19~23 is suggestive of the ceiling he will eventually reach 24~28 AKA his early-mid prime. Being able to direct a player during his younger years is extremely important. When you skip the 19~23 years playing against kids 4 years your junior, you are only lowering your own ceiling. I don't know what it is, but the psychological equivalent of muscle memory is what I'm thinking.
At any rate, Maker doesn't have the body to really ever be successful in the league IMO. He's narrower than even Noel in the trunk (I think) and just doesn't have the frame to add enough strength.
