So this comes after Markeiff Morris' injury in game 1 in which he landed on Horford's foot after making a jumpshot over him. Morris didn't return but hopefully he'll be back for game 2. Reason I'm posting this now is because I remember almost exactly 2 years ago when Wiz played the Hawks in the second round, Horford pulled the exact same **** against Beal in game 1 and Beal sprained his ankle.

See here
Image

This happens a lot more than people think, especially this time of the season. Jalen Rose admitted a while back that he purposefully did the exact same thing against Kobe during the 2000 Finals in hoping to injure him (Kobe missed the next game). And Larry Bird even said couple years ago that Bill laimbeer was the master of this and would often try it on McHale and Parish.

After the Beal incident, I made a post about on here 2 years ago how I thought it was a dirty move and that anyone who's played basketball knows when a guy is purposefully trying to take their landing space to have them land awkwardly. No one was really buying it though. But then Horford drops the people's elbow on Dellavedova one round later:

And a Raps fan mentioned in the game thread how Horford is the guy that basically ended TJ Ford's career with this bush league play:

Thoughts? Only bring this up because Horford has never been looked as a dirty player. But I feel like this has happened too many times to keep calling it a coincidence...or am I reading too much into it?

Guy's one of the biggst gentlemen in the game. He went to apologize, who does that?

You probably got lucky morris twisted his ankle. He's been utter trash so far in the postseason(40% from the field, .319 from 3- 11 pts 4 rbs)...Why would Horford injure your worst player?

As a neutral party, I've mostly seen some (not all) Celtics fans being obnoxious and others responding in kind.

Al Horford probably averages about 10,000 possessions a season, and there are four or so plays referenced to claim he's a dirty player. That's like calling someone a bad driver because they parked crooked a few times.

There's a reason players tape their ankles. Players land on another player's foot a lot. Heck, sometimes players roll their ankles without landing on another player's foot. The approach that has been taken to try to create a narrative that labels Horford as a dirty player could be done for 95% of the players who have played 5+ years in the league.

I mean, we are talking about a game where a Celtic's player got his tooth knocked out by an elbow. If Horford had knocked Wall's tooth out, I couldn't even imagine what this thread would look like.

For real dog, this sounds like something his side chick or wife would call him, not his basketball rivals. Would be weird if they did.

There are certainly some, i'll grant you that. But IMO it seems like no matter what the C's do, there is a long line of people waiting to crap on them. Between the fake 1 seed ****, the Rondo excuses, the Horford dirty player saga, it seems like everyone loves to hate on the team for one reason and I can't even watch the C's win without people making lame excuses on this board.....which kinda blows my mind seeing as the team is made up of mostly likeable players, like AB, Crowder, and IT.....I mean I get if people wanna hate on the Smart flopping thing, even though that has been toned down.....

Granted....you can hate whichever team you want and say whatever you want but you can best be sure that i'm gonna defend my team.

Horford has been in the league for 10 years. Let me check how many games he has played. About 750 games. Almost 25000 minutes. Four plays -even if they were all dirty plays, which doesn't seem to be the case to me, seems like a couple of plays with unnecessary contact and a couple of accidents- don't make a player dirty. Dirty players are the guys who have a bunch of plays like this throughout a season. Not throughout an entire decade.

I think the Delavadova one is his only actual dirty play. The others are stupid fouls on his part, but no malicious intent. Even the Delavadova one it was out of frustration, but he was not trying to harm him.

So no. And as the above poster mentions 10 years and this few clips...I dunno. Not enough of a pattern.

I was just about to comment like this.

The TJ Ford is incident was sad, he did not maliciously injured Ford. The Little Dely incident, that guy is a pest, does not make it right but he got caught in the heat of the moment. Challenging shots is apart of the game. Seem like people want to pick the pepper out of the **** on this one because you want to be mad at him for your player being injured

Never noticed it before. But his leg motion does seem unnatural in the 2 gifs.

With Horford and Olynyk, Celtics are developing a reputation for being a dirty team that tries to injure other players.

Really??

Olynyk injured someone once, so he's a dirty player?

How many players landed on another player's foot this season? Are all of those players whose foot caused the roll of another player's ankle dirty?

Isaiah had a tooth knocked out by an elbow to the face. No one is saying that was a dirty play.

People are really grasping at straws here, and it is honestly laughable.

This is from earlier in the season, and caused Crowder to miss multiple games. I don't remember an outcry from posters.

I've despised horfraud since that dispicable attack on tj Ford back in 07. That was when tj was just getting back from injury and was really playing well and had the raptors on a roll. I'm not surprised he's out there injuring players, he's just good at hiding it.

You arent wrong, but its all about perception. Bowen played 16 years and if you try and find incidents of him actually hurting someone, its surprisingly rare considering alot would say hes one of the dirtiest defenders of all time.

This needs more attention. Jump shooters are called floppers for kicking out their legs and landing on the ground, but the defender is always trying to stand in their landing area. This really needs to stop.

Almost everyone does it, no need to single out Horford.

Of course OP picked the perfect time to make this post, with past "evidence". This is the perfect time for Wiz fans or Horford haters to eat this up.

If you actually look at this objectively, based on Horford's career he is definitely not a dirty player. This shouldn't even be a hot take topic.

dangermouse wrote:Like i said before, this happens once in the playoffs its probably nothing. Twice in the playoffs against the same team, in the same round even, thats suspect af. Couple this with his antics with TJ Ford and Delly, and any rational person begins to see a pattern beyond coincidence.

Are you kidding?? COINCIDENCE or PLANNED???
PLAYOFFS = check
SAME ROUND = check
SAME TEAM = check

Any rational person sees the COINCIDENCE? This isn't a conspiracy theory.

LOL..yeah cause Horford planned this all out. (/sarcasm over)

Wow..if you really think a RATIONAL person thinks like that you might need to rethink lots of things.

What a dumb response. Dirty isnt pushing a player to get a rebound. Thats simply physical basketball and a foul, no matter the team. The Ford, Delly, Morris, and Beal plays all have the same thing in common... Zero effect on the outcome of the play itself, besides injuring the player.
