Re: Jalen Rose "Kawhi wants out of SA"
If Kawahi indeed wants out he doesnt want to go to a weakened team so i imagine he would just decline his player option in 2019 and become a ufa.

I trust Jalen enough to think he has nothing to gain by making **** up. Now if his sources are failing him that's an entirely different matter.

Financially, is that even possible?Sherlock wrote:The Penguin wrote:What could a Kawhi deal even look like? Who even has the assets? Is this where Boston makes their move or do they still wait for Davis?
Could anyone beat Boston putting everything on the table outside of Kyrie / Tatum / Horford / Hayward (so basically Jaylen Brown / Marcus Smart / Marcus Morris / Yabusele / Lakers 1st / Clippers 1st / Grizzlies 1st).
My God. As a Raps fan, I really hope not.
Kyrie/Tatum/Hayward/Kawhi/Horford What an amazing two-way lineup...
...
And yet I'd still pick
Curry/Klay/Durant/Iggy/Dray in a series though...how crazy is that?

I doubt he doesn't finish his contract. Anything after that is up for grabs though, considering the fact that GS has a real chance at a three-peat.. Morey and Ainge must have their ears perked up on this one.

I wonder if Pops is hip enough to pull the nah, fam line if Kawhi officially asks for a trade.
LOL.. It's Pop.. Of course he is. He just pulled it off a few months ago. Kawhi isn't in a strong enough position to ask for a trade now anyway. Too many years left on his deal.

This is inside insight regarding the actual basketball team, not off the court stuff.
I imagine if I was a Spurs fan I would want to be informed about something like this.
But there was nothing to the story other than Jalen Rose’s opinion. He read the story about the injury being a strain on the relationship and starts declaring “Kawhi wants out!!!!” and starts listing all kinds of reasons not even related to whatever the injury-related strain is...

I thought he signed a five year max the season before last... Just checked. He can opt out next year...
That means this summer would be the time to make a power play.

Meh. We’ve been good before him we’ll be good if he leaves. All this talk about the team going in the wrong direction yet it’s still in a better position than 80% of the league. He can go to lavar’s circus if he wants

I thought the Jordan quote about Kemba was a little strange in that I wondered why Kawhi was mentioned at all.

Re: Jalen Rose "Kawhi wants out of SA"
This likely has relation with Pop retiring eventually. He isnt seeing himself staying there if Pop is not coaching long term. I dont blame him. There is nothing there to keep him in San Antonio and waste his prime playing past prime Aldridge and retirement center. And their young guys arent even good where you see say that's a next star player. This isnt situation where Parker, Duncan and Ginobili are all in together from beggining and taking paycuts every time to stay playing next to each other with Pop coaching team for next 10 years. Kawhi is now solo driver.
If he is serious, he will opt out in 2019. And leave for the East.

I understand that, not saying he's a credible source but he is a former NBA player who's been around similar situations. His opinion is not TMZ like to me. It's about basketball.

Yeah i think I'd take Boston there, but it'd be close regardless. Kawhi is one of the few who can MAYBE control KD. Kyrie has already proven he can match Curry's output in a championship series, and Stevens is as good as they come outside of Pop.

And Boston fired their entire medical staff over IT hip misdiagnoses - has that been confirmed/admitted to by the Celtics? Or is it just speculation? Jalen was also implying that Kawhi was misdiagnosed and that the Spurs need to do the same.

Most teams could offer their entire team and not sniff Kawhi.
Simmons, Redick, Saric, LA pick for Leonard, bad contract is about as close as it might get for a rebuildin g package.

Re: Jalen Rose "Kawhi wants out of SA"
I dont put alot of stock into this rumor, if it wasnt from Woj id put zero stock into it. But really this season is a treadmill year and i dont use that word here negatively.
Spurs went 7 years between their 2 most recent championships, in those 7 years nobody panac'd, they didnt "blow up" the "treadmill". They played relentless professional basketball, continued the culture and patiently waited for their diligence to be rewarded. It was almost rewarded in 2013 when a ray allen desperation 3 spited them, and were finally rewarded the following year when they walloped the Heatles in revenge.
That being said i can sorta see why kawhi might be a bit disgruntled if his mindset is beating gsw in the next 3 years. The roster as of today just doesnt have the firepower to beat the dubs (and probably the rockets) 4 out of 7 tries. But the spurs (and kawhi's) situation isnt that terrible in the long view, if spurs dont improve, kawhi has an out in his player option after next year and that same year spurs could potentially have 30+ million in capspace in which to add some players to entice him back.
I respect the leader in Pop for being able to work it out with Aldridge, but between his, gasol and mill's contracts it think its the first time in a long time that the spurs front office has made a legit mistake. But even then i find a hard time being that mad. All nba salaries have gone banana's (overall there are something like 120 players making more than 10 million a season), can we really be that critical of the spurs for Gasol's 16? Look the other players in his general contract area:
53 Evan Turner, SG Portland Trail Blazers $17,131,148
54 Goran Dragic, PG Miami Heat $17,000,450
55 Bismack Biyombo, C Orlando Magic $17,000,000
56 Evan Fournier, SF Orlando Magic $17,000,000
57 Kent Bazemore, SG Atlanta Hawks $16,910,113
58 Robert Covington, SF Philadelphia 76ers $16,698,103
59 Ian Mahinmi, C Washington Wizards $16,661,641
60 Tim Hardaway Jr., SF New York Knicks $16,500,000
61 Draymond Green, PF Golden State Warriors $16,400,000

72 Eric Bledsoe, PG Phoenix Suns $14,500,000
73 Ricky Rubio, PG Utah Jazz $14,275,000

As long as we're making garbage offers that don't stand a chance:
Utah trades: A buncha crap
SA Trades: Kawhi
Mitchell/Kawhi/Gobert would be SAF.

New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.
