That's an odd thing to say about a team that drafted both Bill Russell and Dave Cowens. Even McHale could be a center in the modern game.

Russell wasn't drafted by the Celtics. We traded for him. Dave Cowens is clearly in the starting line-up.

As previously noted, I just don't accept that view. Red Auerbach maneuvered at length before the draft to get that pick, with the intention of using it on Russell.

you don't accept that Bill Russell was drafted by Atlanta and not the Celtics? Any other verified undisputable facts you also don't accept?

If you want to do a different thread or state that you believe draft day trades should count as teams drafting those players then go ahead and do that, but no reason to act like it's ludicrous to go the other way with that as most of the people in this thread have.

Giving the Bucks Starbury instead would be a bit of a step down ... but again, I think this makes more sense giving teams the rookies who started their careers with them.

Of course, there are no rules under which the Bucks are assigned both Dirk and Judas Shuttlesworth.

My bad. I'll just have to replace Allen with 1 of Julius Erving, Bob Dandridge, or Marbury.

Leaves us thin at centre, since Cowans is the only one of our all timers we technically drafted.
Dave will have to get it done. McHale will play a lot of C too, I guess.

Some people aren't counting Russell as a Celtic, since they got him in a draft-day trade. That's bonkers to me.

I'm not worried, but I should be consistent. I had Penny as a Warrior. So Dave Cowans and Kevin McHale will be the starting big men along with Bird. Pierce and...hmm..not sure who gets the starting PG spot. I'm thinking JoJo White, with Hando playing the supersub role.
