Anyone Else Feel Bad for Toronto?

I do. Kawhi played them. He played hard for them for selfish interests and left them when they did everything he wanted and treated him perfectly. In the end there was nothing they could have done to keep him cause he wanted LA all along.

They got a chip as a consolation prize and now need to rebuild without even getting to defend their title. At least Cleveland got 2 additional years of LeBron.

I don't feel bad for Toronto they got a championship out of the Spurs trade. I feel bad for the Spurs they had to trade a top 3 NBA player he wanted out. They were in position to keep him for many years if he wanted to remain a Spur. He wanted to go to Clippers all this time. So if any team I feel bad for it's the Spurs not the Raptors.

Yes, it worked out beautifully for the Raptors. Spurs franchise took a hit over this whole Kawhi ordeal when the whole time he had LA on his mind. Raptors knew what they were getting into when they traded for him.

Spurs vets like Parker turns out were right all along, he just didn't care and didn't want to be there. He played his ass off for Toronto because he had to prove his value for a contract and it worked out like a charm.

Spurs are the real victims of this whole Kawhi fiasco, Toronto took the risk and it paid off.

Who leaves a defending NBA championship team to go to a bigger market, basketball is a team sport that's a bit shallow of Kawhi to not defend the title they won because he wanted to be in LA.

Turns out all the rumors of him wanting out and to LA were true this whole time.

Its funny how Golden State is indirectly involved with two very important things that changed the league:

They took a balsy risk on trading for Kawhi and the city showed him nothing but love. Jurrasic Park was something epic that hasn't been seen before. Now who knows when we'll ever get that type of fandom from a city. Definitely not the Clippers in LA. Jared Dudley said on Woj's Podcast that when he was on the Clippers (when they were good) it was still a Laker city even though the Lakers sucked.

Are the Spurs fine? They are also a party to what happened. Winningest team in history, developed Kawhi from a 15th pick into a star and taught him how to play winning basketball, and he drug them through the mud so he could sell more shoes. I don't. They tried to act like they had the best team ever when really they only got to the finals because of a weak Eastern conference and only won because their opponents all went down with injuries (and were also exhausted from being in the finals 5 years in a row).

That, along with Drake acting like a clown on the sidelines, makes me delighted that Toronto is now back to reality.

Is Kevin Durant fine? Kawhi is lucky he trusted his body over the Spurs doctors. And it's always funny to watch people give the Spurs all the credit for all the work Kawhi has done to improve himself. They helped, sure, but that's any team's job. Let's stop acting like he wouldn't be an allstar if it weren't for the Spurs. If he wanted to drag them through the mud he probably could, but I haven't seen it.
