I think he'll give the Lakers every opportunity they can to convince him to stay, but I also won't be one bit surprised if he leaves. Everyone knows the Lakers management is a dysfunctional mess and drama follows Lebron everywhere he goes. If they get out to a mediocre start through the first ~20 games, we already know what's going to happen. The media will go crazy, rumors will swirl that Vogel's on the hot seat, and AD will be scapegoated because Lebron's co-stars always get blamed when his teams struggle. That's not exactly an attractive environment to be in.

Well then it looks, like an expensive rental.
If he doesn't return , should look for a sign and trade to recoup assets.

Yeah. Philly should make room for him or trade for someone like Butler.

He's expensive for a backup center - I'll pass

Lol didn’t know Philly fans were that delusional. Embiid is one major knee injury away from being the next Andrew Bynum without the rings.

Couldn't someone say the exact same thing about AD, though?

Both are kinda oft injured, but projecting future injuries seem unfair.

Wow, and the Kyrie drama only started halfway through our season. It's still months from the Laker season starting. Look out and expect a media frenzy all year, bitter teammates, and ruined team chemistry over this. It will be an issue all season long. The media won't let it go.

It definitely is.

He's gonna stay. He literally only wanted to go to one team (essentially confirmed by David Griffin on the Woj pod). It isn't analagous to the Dwight situation at all...Dwight never wanted to be traded to the Lakers. From what I remember, he wanted the Nets.

I am guessing he might opt in (so Lakers ultimate cap space in 2021 when Lebron opts out, he is not opting in no way) or sign 2 + 1 for that Super Max.

There is no upside to committing right now. I'm sure the only way he leaves at the end of the year is if LeBron has an injury plagued year and it becomes clear that father time is catching up to LeBron quick.

I am not so sure. Like I said I don't think it's about market for AD remember he put the Bucks in his preferred destinations I think it's more about championships and legacy. He wants to goto somewhere he feels he can win.

So when people say the Lakers can just make the playoffs and that will be good enough once again I am not so sure. If just making the playoffs was good enough he wouldn't have demanded a trade in the first place. He wants to be on a team who has a legit shot of winning a chip if it is a big market team all the better and preferable. Maybe the Lakers are that team then again maybe they are not. Who knows we have to see how the season plays out.

One thing that is sort of clear by his comments while the Lakers maybe preferred (I believe they were/are) him returning is not the slam dunk every Laker fans claims it is or at least AD doesn't feel that way.

I’ve had enough of ADs attention whore moves already. It’s been almost a year straight w/ nothing but drama and this guy. He wins one playoff series and this is what he turns into?

So now he’s trying to create buzz around his FA all season even though he already said “only Lakers” a month ago? So a team gives up 4 FRPS and most of their young players for him, and he says something like this publically? He used to be such a humble and likeable guy, now he’s like the opposite. Wow I can’t stand him. Boogie too - just yuck.

Who would have thought the Lakers would manage to sign (or in this case trade for) a set of players who I dislike more for the players themselves than the fact that they play for the Lakers.

Why commit? he's just joined a team that's fired or lost people at nearly every level throughout the organisation and haven't made the play offs in years. They're hardly a safe pair of hands.

That said, the Lakers (and LeBron) would only have themselves to blame if they lost him. They're clearly his preferred destination, the team would have to devolve into in-fighting and have an utter disaster for him to walk away.

Thread incoming: Where will Davis land next season?

Even before he’s played a game in LA

Lakers would be ruined for the next decade, they gave up 3 unprotected FRP's & 2 rights to swap.

What would be funnier, is a return to NO's. Davis, Hayes, Zion, Jrue, NAW & 5 potential Lakers lottery picks ...

I kinda hope he doesn't leave, lol
