One of the highest Bball IQs we've seen, got a max contract without having to shoot the ball.

Is starting to shoot the ball, and the rookie with a low ceiling and poor efficiency is being coveted more by some of you. It's ok Ben Simmons will shut a lot of its haters up, and Luka fans will come back down to earth.

Did you just say Doncic has a low ceiling? WUT
People were saying last year he would not make it in NBA.

Id rather have Luka in the playoffs, the complete lack and regression of a jumper by Simmons just really shows its ugly head come playoff time. I also trust Luka more with the ball in his hands at the end of games as well.

Based on what?

3pt attempts:
2018: 11 attempts
2019: 6 attempts

Jumpers from 10+ ft:
2018: 187 attempts
2019: 87 attempts

Jumpers from 15+ ft:
2018: 55 attempts
2019: 28 attempts

His average shot distance in the playoffs last year was just under 3ft. Where is this "starting to shoot the ball" thing come from. All stats show he actually cut his jump shooting numbers in half from his rookie year, also while cutting down the attempts he also drastically dropped in percentages as well.
Think there is some video out of him hitting lots of shots, this off season. Not sure if it was against high school competition or NBA players. I did take look and he was shooting ok.

Ya that's nothing new though. There is video of him taking and making jumpers in a pickup game filled with NBA players last summer. That ended up meaning nothing for him.

Doncic was better last season and probably going forward. Simmons seems like he is what he is, hasn't improved much since entering league. Maybe this is the year he develops a jump shot?

I didn’t vote b/c I love both these guys. Both are top 10 under 25 guys IMO. Both have significant flaws but make up for it by being great at other things.

I’m not sure if there would be a better fit for Simmons than putting him with Luka and KP. Perfect 3rd guy for those two on the offensive side of the ball.

Won’t ever happen, but if it did, that’s a top 5 trio in the NBA and an instant contender.

That's the stupidest thing ever said, Luka almost made the all-star game as a rookie with fan voting / one plays in the west the other the east / one of them avg like 10pts in his final series.

Luka is better than Simmons now, why would he be better than him next season

Thanks o all-knowing Lord

I was going to say he'll actually shoot less and worse. Saying he'll just be the same seems kind. Tell us how he improved his jumper from y1 to y2 and y3? This is a guy who got a year off to do nothing but learn to shoot and didn't.

Why based on this going into year 4 is he going to get better oh great oracle? Would you not trade Simmons for Doncic in a second? Every Gm in the league certainly would.

I wouldn't. Not in a second, an hour, or a month. Simmons isn't your normal type of player, which means he doesn't have your normal projected trajectory of growth. He usually focuses on one thing each offseason and adds it to his game (better ballhandling, strength, better defense). And from what we've seen this past offseason, which hasn't been the case in previous offseasons, is that he's shooting jumpshots. Is this the thing he adds this offseason? We shall see. Until then, I'll take the better, more athletic defender, who at the same time has similar numbers across the board with Luka.
Truth is on the side of the oppressed.

This sounds like...every young player who ever played in the NBA.

What a unique specimen.

How on earth Luka has low ceiling? Dude scored more in rookie season than Simmons probably ever will.

And Simmons has yet to score single 3 pointer in his NBA career. Giannis is like a Curry compared to him.

I think people already posted why but Luka has had high level coaching and has very refined skills already at a young age. Yes his conditioning can get better but it’s hard to see what he is going to add to his game given his athleticism.

You need to play to get better, KP doesn't play, he's injured both during the season and in off-season. And his rebounding numbers are a tad better than Bargnani's, we've been horrible at rebounding since 2011, but that's ofc because Senile Rick runs his midget lineups 48 mpg, he'd run them 60 minutes if he could.

I know Kristaps was nagged with injuries, but recently it only been one injury, he might not be that injury prone as we think, I hope for the best. And plain rebounding numbers do not indicate if player improves teams rebounding. I am not saying Kristaps is necessarily that player, but there are bigs who dont rebound much but improve teams rebounding, so in a vacuum individual rebounding numbers barely matter.

His advanced rebounding stats are awful. You got guys like Adams who screen out opponents so that his teammates can get rebs, but KP is certainly not that guy. 35 mil for 18+7 low efficiency big who can't stay on the floor, I know Luka is pissed, but he won't show it.

I think you are unreasonably way too low on Kristaps. Yes, his efficiency was low, but that almost always the case with guys who are growing into franchise player shoes, and he was growing into it. He was burdened to lead an offense at age 22, he showed massive potential with the knicks and as a second option if healthy, he could be next Pau or Paul Pierce or someone like that.

Ben isn't even close to being a top15 player and highly unlikely he'll ever be. Getting raped by Kawhi and Lowry when you have Embiid and Butler is ridiculous, the dude is such a liability.

yeah you obviously had plenty of time to watch our playoff run unfold given your own team got to go on holidays early

thats alright though, im sure luka will supply plenty of highlights for mavs fans this season as they prepare for the long hard battle to 30 wins while benjamin makes his 3rd straight playoffs

To be fair, they were guarding Ben from a FT line. If that's not disrespectful then i don't know what is. He had constant open looks every single game and he refused to take those shots.
Opponents were simply clogging the paint and made Embiid's life a lot harder. Obviously didn't help that Harris wasn't shooting much better either, but last years Philly team had probably the best pieces around Ben that you can come up with. Imagine Ben being real threat on the offense, how would that open up the floor for Reddick, Harris, Butler and also free up the paint for Embiid.

He had better pieces for his game the year before, not last year. Last year was a terrible fit for him.
