After all this is said and done, Miami and Houston are probably two of the teams primed for new ownership.

More specifically, I'm calling out your "Bernie bros" comment from earlier in the thread. It's funny that 'muricans consider his viewpoints extreme, it's just standard fare for the rest of the G8.

Went to the 1 of the most liberal unis in the US.

Bernie is very extreme, just listen to his ideas on tax rates for middle class and up. It's nonsensical and the only knuckleheads falling for it are going who are over educated and under employed

I know exactly what his thoughts are on progressive taxation, like I said, it's reality for literally every other country in the G8.

You know what's wild? The government allocates our taxes for healthcare and education and the upper income brackets STILL accumulate tremendous wealth WHILE we pay lower per capita for that healthcare.

And Canada is considered US-adjacent in terms of policy to virtually every European country. I have a Swedish friend who honestly doesn't know the differences between our (yours and mine - not his) countries and thinks they're not significant enough to even discuss.

It blows my mind every time I get into these discussions. My right-leaning friends and colleagues south of the border like to argue in hypotheticals and 'slippery slopes' while there are real, and numerous, examples of social democracies that produce better quality of life... in exchange for more balanced wealth redistribution.

And I'm considered a centrist up here! I'm sure you'd think I'm a communist.

No, you seem out of touch with reality because you spend too much time watching YouTube crazies. Socialism works for certain countries with certain GDPs and certain socioeconomic mixes.

IE, adopting a British style tax code for US would be an economic disaster.

YouTubers crazies never address economic mixes of socialist countries that are considered "successes" because they've never taken a basic macro course. Like any debate, 1 can pick a pointing the picture and make it work. There isn't 1 successful "socialist" country that's one consumption based/service for a reason, learn why and open your eyes.

Will be interesting if these same owners are going to be giving the players their April 15th checks that are reportedly up in the air.

Irony, again. This time, labeling non-US paradigms as nations full of YouTube "crazies" but then being the one to resort to a meaningless troll an an exclamation point to an empty argument (i.e. "sheep strong with the Bern").

Feel free to wallow in your ignorance as the US continues to slide down the world QoL indices. Or you could look beyond your borders and learn a thing or two.

Tilman Fertitta, Houston icon until time comes to put your money where your mouth is.

Been a bad past year for Houston sports, Astros the model baseball franchise got exposed as cheats, Bill O'brien is doing his best to run a promising Texans franchise into the ground, now Rockets had to go form Les Alexander to Uncle Scrooge here.

People are always quick to judge and there's no need to call anyone scumbag.

Business is a separate entity from business owner. And that is more than a "legal thing".

If the business if profitable it employs and pays money.
If business operations are stopped and business does not have any turnover or it decreases to the point which makes it impossible to proceed as before then business has a few options.

Those are:
- Reduce the costs
- Go bankrupt

Simple as that.

Smart business owners don't pretend or pro-long decisions. If you see that without the needed turnover you can't pay to suppliers or staff you close the doors as soon as possible.

This is by the way the best solution for everyone. No need for debt to grow and affect other businesses. Plus the employees know at once to search for another job.

Simply - there's no lie in there.

NO BUSINESS OWNER WANTS TO LAY OFF THE STAFF WHO IS TRAINED AND WORKED HARD. but at the same time why the business owner has to cover something from his own pocket when his pocket and his business account are two separate things.

Let's be smart - if the business can't survive it can't and that's all. Therefore it cuts the costs as much as possible to at least save some staff. If this does not help - then you close the doors.. The quicker you do it the better it is for everyone involved.

Typical straw woman argument.

When somebody is reduced to nothing but ad hominems, they really have nothing.

Good luck with everything, you'll need it.
