Im going to go against the grain here and say that the 2016 Cavs was probably the worst championship team within that time frame. In fact, I dont believe the Cavs fielded a championship caliber roster during either of Lebron James tenures with the team. He is just an all-time great player that made up for their deficiencies. They came back from a 3-1 lead but many believe that it was fluky considering the injury to Bogut and suspension of Draymond. The 2015 Warriors similarly benefitted from the injuries to Love and Irving just one year prior; but they were a top offensive and defensive team that season and was very capable of beating the Cavs even with Irving and Love present. The 3-1 lead with Irving and Love present in 2016 proves that they were probably the better team with their complete rotation that just lost the momentum against an all-time great player.

Honestly... apparently KD being injured makes the Raptors a worse team than they actually were. And don't forget, beating an incredibly talented Philly team in 7 games in the 2nd round also makes the Raptors a bad team.

A Philly team that seems to be mostly hype and little substance, people have been talking about this supposed 76ers juggernaut and we have yet to see it really take form. They had the 6th best record in the East before the season got put on hiatus not something I would call a dominant team.

I also will point out Philly has an abysmal road record this year 10-24 they are an astounding 29-2 at home, seems like if they lack home court advantage in any series they are in a lot of trouble.

The Raptors went to exactly one Game 7.

Exactly. The 08 Celtics or 2010 Lakers are the answer.

I instantly thought the ‘10 Lakers team. Kobe was the super-duper star with Gasol & Bynum & Odom?

The 15 Warriors better than the 19 Rap? Lol

If they mean teams are good because they have sexy names on them then the Raptors are the worst. If it means how well teams execute their gameplans and play basketball then it's not even close. The 2010 Lakers weren't all the way gelled together.

As a fan of a team that hasn't won a championship since 1971, I can't wait to be included in worst championship teams lists.

2007 Spurs for me. If the league didn't fix it for them, the Suns would have won it that year. Any title team since 2008+ would have easily beaten that Spurs team.

Duncan, Ginobili and Parker we're pretty close if not in their prime no way a team like the 10 Lakers, 15 dubs or 19 Raptors beats them.

Also people need to check that myth that the league fixed the series against the Suns, not only were the Suns the Spurs whipping boys at that time, but what would the league gain from the Spurs being in the finals! Just look at the finals ratings that year.

The 15 Warriors were the best team in the regular season (by far) and the best team in the post season that year. They absolutely mopped the Western Conference.

Your Raptors needed 6 games to beat an equally banged up Warriors team. They also struggled far more on the path to get there than the Warriors did.

Raptors had an all-time defensive squad that flipped the switch and hit top gear in the playoffs. How can that be in a "worst team" category.

Furthermore, the Warriors are easily the greatest collection of MVP and all-NBA level individual talent in-their-primes, that the league has ever seen. Just because the Warriors greatness is historic, that doesn't make the Raptors "worst" just because KD got hurt. You can only play who they put in front of you.

Because getting beat down 3 out of 4 years and winning due to a Draymond Green suspension isn't relevant apparently.

Draymond Green's suspension is irrelevant. The Cavs still won Game 6 & Game 7 even with Dray on the court.

If anything, Bogut's injury in Game 5 is what killed GSW. Their rim protection was garbage without Bogut.

The Warriors mopped a very injured Western Conference. Jrue Holiday was injured in their first round matchup against the Pelicans. Mike Conley was injured in their second round matchup against Memphis, and Tony Allen missed game 5. Patrick Beverley and Donatas Montejiunas were injured when they played Houston. And finally Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love injured in their finals matchup against Cleveland.

Don't talk to me about Toronto benefitting from injuries, the '15 Warriors benefitted from them probably more than any team in league history.

Recency bias and hate along with jealousy towards any winners is not surprising. Either way the Raptors are defending champions and you can salt it up all you want but those are facts.

1. 10-11 Mavs
2. 05-06 Heat (I know it's pre 2007, but it's close)
3. 09-10 Lakers
4. 15-16 Cavs

The rest of the teams were Top 3 teams the year they won their Championships.

Everyone saying the Raptors heads their heads up their butts. That team was awesome. I'd say they're one of the best.

You must still be bitter, but the 2016 Cavs had LeBron, Kyrie and Love and defeated a 73 win team. They went to the Finals for 4 consecutive years. They dominated their conference every year like clockwork. Far from a worst championship team contender.

Last year's Raptors squad wouldn't beat any Finals team going back to at least 2010...

By 538s Elo rankings, the 2010 Lakers are the worst, which I agree with. Then the 2012 Heat, 2008 Celtics, and the 2007 Spurs are also on the lower end, followed by the Raptors. If you go back a bit further, the 2006 Heat were pretty rough as far as Champions go as well.

All of the champions from 2013-2018 are pretty solid, with the 2017 Warriors looking like the greatest team of all time (which they probably were).

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/complete-history-of-the-nba/#lakers

I tend to find this system pretty reliable - it rates the 86 Celtics really well along with the Jordan Bulls. Sadly the Hakeem Rockets titles don't pan out but that's not surprising either.

In terms of talent from worst-best: 2011 Mavs, 2019 Raptors, 2010 Lakers tied w/ 2007 Spurs, 2008 Celtics, 2015 Warriors

What does Philly's record this year have to do with last year? They're a totally different team now, their window has closed for a period. But with Jimmy and Reddick they were very good.
