That's absurd. Even in the UFC people don't get their careers ended in one clean hit and all they do is hit each other. Players in rugby used to Fight each other for fun all unpadded and never heard of anyone getting seriously hurt from a few punches.
Sure a freak accident can occur if someone's head hits the hardwood but that can happen in normal play too.

Yeah but how are you going to regulate risk in allowing fighting? It came awfully close for Rudy T. So what happens when someone really does die and/or have a life-altering or career-altering injury? Just chalk it up to bad luck because it's a MAN'S GAME?
