I'll take Stockton over Steph, and I'll take CP3 on my team over Steph. Heck Curry would be a lot more effective with CP3 next to him tbh doing the point guard duties so that he's free to focus more on shooting and going to the rim. Passing out occasionally still, but not being the primary playmaker.

It is not like Curry lack of play making ability, it is because he is also the best off ball player who can play with any good playmakers. With CP3 the team will be limited by size and flexibility in defense.

How come we only care about positions when we want to give out superlatives?

Like its obvious that CP3 is a conventional point guard. He runs the offense. He guards other point guards. He balances the floor on defense. He is the team leader. He is like Magic, Stocton, Mark Jackson and Isaiah.

Other times we say its positionless and it doesnt really matter.

This stat is a big deal to me. No one thought Phx would be this good.

So doing exactly what he is supposed to do at and extremely elite level and better than anyone else in the league in 5 games is not impressive?

What about the one behind his head today? Like I dont get what you want the man to do.

Point Guard- Get and find the open man. Pass him the ball and control the offense.

Uhm... Any given team is now and was better with Paul on defensive end than Curry ever was. Paul while shorter he is stronger than Curry and also defensive IQ and willingness to play on that end are light years ahead of Curry.

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense to bring up size in this context - size is just an ends to a means. Shaq is good because he scored a lot not because he was big, his size is just one of the reasons he was able too (perhaps the biggest).

People harp on CP3's size but his size doesn't really hold him back...I mean the main reason why it's bad to have a 6 foot PG is for defensive purposes and needless to say defense is not a problem for him.

Not saying CP3 is worse than Curry on defense, but saying CP3 is not the ideal match for Curry. I would rather have splash brothers. For example, when facing Clippers, neither CP3 nor Steph can defend Kawhi or PG13.

I'm a big CP3 fan. He is my favourite player ever and he is reason i started watching NBA regularly. I'm a Pels fan today because of CP3 but you cant put him over Curry in all-time PG list...

Not only did Curry beat his generation's Jordan in the finals, he also edges Stockton out statistically.

I mean he beat James the same way guys beat Jordan - with a much better team.

It was hardly a much better team. He lost to him the following year with the same team. The pre-KD Warriors and Cavs were pretty evenly matched.

they only faced twice before Durant happened. The Cavs won in 2016 and....wait - did you just forget what happened in 2015? You cant actually look at their rosters and think that was even?

James was pretty clearly a better player than Curry throughout the years - the logical conclusion is that he lost because Curry had better teammates. I mean the proof is in the pudding, isnt it?

Are you just not as impressed by the old timers like Oscar and West, or are you intentionally excluding them because it's too hard to compare?

Also, I'd put Nash over CP3, but CP3 certainly has a case.

I've previously argued that because he never forces things, he's never been able to push his team that far in the playoffs.

The lack of risk taking, or lack of ability/will to force things means his value doesn't result in the sort of heights a LeBron, Kobe or [insert superstar contemporary] achieved

Nah, bad injury luck and poor team depth is the only reason CP3 never got a ring so far. His style is extremely translatable to playoff wins.

The Clippers were also never good enough to win a title. Not when your 2 best players are Blake Griffin and D’Andre Jordan.

Probably the worst take I’ve ever heard in my life...and I heard Trump was a good president.

I'm a big CP3 fan also and I can put him over Curry for the reasons I already said up there, and because I value point guards who actually play good defense much like CP3.

Stockton didn't play for stats. Many say if Stockton had stepped up more in scoring most would have a different opinion about him but what's done is done. I still say he was the better point guard between him and Curry.
