Had never heard of Bill Mlkvy but that's fantastic. My favourite in any sport (in this case baseball) was Doug "Eyechart" Gwosdz.
Nnamdi Asomugha was often referred to as "Scrabble".

Both these guys started their NBA careers in 1986. One of them was fat. You can try to guess which one.
HOF Dodger pitchers Don Drysdale and Don Sutton were "Big D" and "Little d". And Sutton signed autographs with a little d, I think even after they both retired.

Yao was "The Great Wall". I always liked that one.
I've recently seen where Kevin Huerter of the Hawks has been referred to as "Red Velvet". That one is pretty good as well.

A couple from other sports that I like.
One of Australia's greatest rugby players had the nickname 'Nobody'.....because nobody's perfect.
I heard this a couple of days ago, an Aussie rules football player with the nickname NASA, because he's great out in (open) space.

Only logged in to quote you and say that this is hands down by far the best nickname/player combo ever.
AK47 - there's no beating that. To add to it that he happens to be a Russian and was the type of player to stuff the stat sheet back in the day, just imagine what he'd be doing in this league with these rules now....

It's such a shame that he sustained so many injuries, and peaked so early.

Really, Yao was part of the "Great Wall" along with Wang Zhi-Zhi and Menke Bateer (the last two of which did play in the NBA but weren't anything special).

Shout out to "The Big Unit" Randy Johnson
I mean, that is a top tier name in itself, but the nickname is perfect.

I remember Wang Zhi-Zhi. He had a short run with the Mavs. I didn't know The Great Wall nickname came from their Olympic team. Makes sense though.
Back in the day I just remember a few in the media mentioning that nickname during Rockets games.
