Calling haralabob a “degenerate gambler” feels like a pretty damn unfair characterization. Warren sharp and haralabob are like the two guys who Vegas turned to for help setting lines because of their iq in their respective sports. I don’t know who jerry Jones right hand man is but let’s have some damn perspective on this. Haralabob is a gambler the same way Doug Polk is, if “gambling” means essentially dedicating your life to math and algorithms so you can exploit flaws in a game and make a ton of money pretty risk free. And I’d guess the reason he’s disliked in Dallas is he has the people skills of Will Hunting alongside the math skills

The man only became rich off of essentially a scam he sold to the morons at Yahoo that was maybe the worst corporate purchase ever. Every other company he's created is pretty much worthless in comparison. The guy literally had Ring right in front of him available for next to nothing and this supposed tech genius had less vision than SHAQ for it.
He talks about all his fancy data forward thinking just for him to do dumb crap like dump Steve Nash so he can give Erick Dampier a ton of money, and stopping his own front office from taking Giannis because he just loves signing crappy overpriced centers so much.
It turned out he had a horribly misogynist, toxic organization full of sexual harrassment the entire time he was there, but this control freak supposedly "had no prior knowledge" of it.
And now he's apparently just going full Jerry Jones with a degenerate gambler as his right hand man (as far as we know).
So we've got lots of front office meddling, an office full of sexual harassment, horrible contracts handed out like candy to B/C-list fake "stars," and now a highly respected coach quitting with multiple years left on his contract, which I can't remember ever happening in recent memory except for non-basketball reasons (Rudy T).
Is this guy just Dolan but with Luka instead of a crappy blues band?
This is great. Random internet guy kills Billionaire Cuban about his business.. then proceeds to tell him what to do with team that he owns.

The reality is it is very hard to win consistently in the NBA if you aren't LA/New York/Miami, the only places players want to be.
Seems very hard to win if you are New York.

I once went fishing with Mark Cuban. Well not just the Cubes, we had Chris Daughtry, Jeff Probst, super-chef Bobby Flay. It was insane. I mean, it was almost too much

Re: Mark Cuban finally being exposed as the awful owner he is
Having lived in Dallas for the last 60 years, it's almost comical how much of a Jerry Jones starter kit Cuban is. They both are extreme meddlers that can't let their need for attention get in the way of making sound decisions. They need credit for any success and deflect any failures to things out of their control. And they both owe all of their success in the sports world to one person: Jimmah and Dirk. Glad to see at least some think what I've thought all along. Cuban's not a TERRIBLE owner, just not nearly as good as most people have given him credit for. Comfy seat? Really?!
When someone says, "to make a long story short", it's usually too late.

LOL @ “degenerate gambler”. You mean someone who became worth 8 figures by how effective he was at rating basketball players when he was previously working at an airport?

[Amick] Mark empowered Bob Voulgaris to a point which caused widespread frustration from Donnie Nelson & others on the staff. Donnie made it clear to Mark that he had great concern's about Bob's role. He was hoping Mark would put Bob in his lane as an advisor but Mark defended Bob's positioning.

Terrible OP. Doesn't even matter whether you're right (you're wrong), but terrible OP.
There's talking about flaws and there's calling people with real accomplishments snake oil salesmen and degenerate gamblers.

Letting go or losing Nelson and Carlisle is a big mistake that can set his team back, and probably will.

I think he is, but he doesn't have the advantage of being the unique guy he was when he first came onto the scene circa 1999. He really was the first "players owners" and spared no expense to pamper the players and also pay the luxury tax. Remember how he'd get fined often for criticizing refs, and then matched those fines dollar for dollar to go to charity? He also was one of the first guys to really employ analytics and number crunching and of course he scouted far more heavily internationally.
It's just that nowadays, there's a lot of "new age" type owners who come from the tech/VC world who are also as young as Cuban was when he broke into the league. Everyone uses analytics and teams have eyes and ears internationally as well. He also can't have the same attitude towards the luxury tax as he used to because it's far more punitive than it was 15-20 year ago when Cuban never cared about going over year after year.
I still think Cuban is a good owner (and certainly credit him for raising the Mavs from being a total doormat). He just isn't as unique among the rest of the league the way he was when he first broke in.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

I agree that he got lucky inheriting Dirk, much the same way Lacob got lucky inheriting Curry.
But I'm gonna take a swing and say that both those players would've eventually been playing in different cities had the previously inept ownerships of those 2 teams not sold to their new owners. Both guys would've forced their way out had their not been a change in ownership.

Re: Mark Cuban finally being exposed as the awful owner he is
If I ever got lucky enough to own my own NBA team, damn right I'm running the show.....I've never really understood that criticism. There are a lot of NBA front office personnel that never played the game, so please someone explain to me what makes them more qualified to run a team over someone like Cuban? His POBO & GM is basically to do the day to day **** Cuban doesn't want to do, but I have no issue with him having final say on all personnel moves....as most owners do.
Of course the mess they're in is definitely not a good look, but I think they'll be fine.

You know nothing Jon Snow.
Best part is calling Voulgaris a "degenerate gambler". Probably the most sober, analytical based mastermind behind much of the reason why sports betting is as hard as it is currently (hint: 95% of the public can't beat the vig, and he beat it to a degree that nobody else could match due to the network of MIT computer scientists and intuition of where the leaks in the betting lines are... it's not something a laymen can accomplish. Initially he did this all on his own until he built mounds of cash to proceed accordingly. I would recommend educating yourself, or hell spend a year trying to beat the lines in the NBA and see how you fare. HINT: You will fail).
Cuban shows a TON of passion for his franchise and is the main reason why NBA locker rooms/facilities are as incredible as they are currently. HE was the one that began that and why facilities like Milwaukee and Golden State exist in their current state.
"Snake Oil Salesman". Dude was a 100% self-made billionaire by 40 and has more than quadrupled that since. I smell jealousy in the air.
