how many games will embiid miss during his 4 year extension at $49mil a year average?
or even more so, will embiid even make it to the end of this extension w/out career ending injury?

Possibly but I think most players are going to take that deal if they're eligible.

Embiid is worth that contract 100% and every team in the 6ixers situation would have done the same. But there should be some concern among fans about his heath though.

Yup there is, but there isn't really an alternative. He has not had a major injury since he started his rookie season though. All his injuries have been small things that have kept him out. But if he does big injury, then obviously that's not good.

I mean Kawhi just signed an extension and he is out for the rest of the year. Top 10 players are worth this money, because they're that good.

kawhi is a 2 x champ, 2 x finals mvp, 2 x dpoy. embiid has done nothing. there is no real comparison here except that now kawhi is often injured or resting like embiid.

"Second place in MVP votes this year, without playing 20 games, get a reasonable 4 year super max instead of the full 5"

For me the concern is less about his physical health and more about what happens with Ben Simmons. Was your super max player calling out Simmons end-of-last-season the right move? To me it undecided still. (1) Simmons wasn't traded. (2) He doesn't want to play in Philly. (3) ?????

There actually is. Embiid was deserving of an MVP last year if he were healthy. There are levels obviously on how accomplished a star you are, and Kawhi is definitely more accomplished. Doesn't take away from the fact that Embiid deserved everything that he got with this contract. What would your solution have been? For him not to be extended?

The weird thing about the super max is that is large enough to sweat it out with Top 10 players. Like this should be a no-brainer in most years but paying $50m to a 32 year old Embiid would make anyone nervous. Basically only guys like prime KD, Lebron, Curry, and Giannis who are both relatively healthy MVPs make it a no-brainer.

Simmons absalutely needed to be called out by his peers. If im Philly id prefer that route over Joel getting frustrated and asking out after another 2nd round exit .

Cool little tidbit I got from the Jump today:

1) He negotiated this extension without an agent... Makes me wonder why marquee guys have one anyways, paying those exorbitant fees for max deals
2) It's fully guaranteed without any of those injury clauses he had in his previous deal.

embiid "could have "....."if healthy". but he didnt and he wasnt. sounds the same as last few seasons.

yes i trade embiid before giving him 40% of my cap space
