it was interesting watching giddey try to close out the clippers. a bit more experience and he could definitely seal wins for his team in the future. he's just gonna have to realize that him making a move is still way better than passing to an open muscala. he was having his way with the smaller guards, too big and too quick. the shots just weren't falling until late.

Orlando has all our Michigan boys. Franz was looking great the other night. Much more aggressive then even college with his shot where he played more of a glue guy to players like Livers.

0:58 damn what do you call that move a double turn into layup?

Both him and Lamelo have their own unique style. Lamelo plays wildstyle but can slow it up and play very sound ball whereas Giddey looks in control and completely out of control at the same time. Like some drunken master vs the cool kid.

Man if only they got paired together would’ve been the most exiting team in the league.

Can we talk about Ayo for a minute? Second Rounder who should have gone in Round One if not for a miserable Tourney run. Went 6/6 last night, and have been showing incredible defense. Not saying he will win rookie of the year what so ever, he won't come close, but I could see him reaching a top 10 rookie status this year, IF (big if) he keeps getting consistent playing time.

Edit: Even then, there are so many good Rookies this year, Ayo could finish with 12ppg with good defense, and still not crack the top ten... Great rookie class.

All of us Magic fans have been blown away by Franz. We knew he was skilled but we thought a good, solid glue guy role player but this we are seeing is spectacular. Kid is doing behind the back dribbles in traffic, calmly sinking 3s, dribble drives, making defensive plays, making passes, and now posterizing people. What a pleasant surprise.

In another world you could have a crazy lineup of Draymond, Giddey (1 pick away), Klay, Steph, and Lamelo.

I was super impressed with Mobley's 1-on-1 defense on Miles Bridges last night. Mobley destroyed him with amazing feet and length. Miles' stats and impact right now would put him in at least 3rd team All-NBA, but Mobley made him have a 1st inefficient game FG%-wise this season. Miles still managed to rack up 9 reb, 8 ast, 3 steals, 2 blocks, but his 4/18 shooting was mostly Mobley looking like a DPOY out there.

Man, when I got up and watched the highlights of that game this morning, this play made me jump out of my chair and yell, lol. I did not expect THAT.

Other than that, happy to see Franz play well, especially seeing as how i was in the majority on the Magic board in liking that pick when it was made. To be fair most expected us to end up with Scottie Barnes (who has been great in his own right), so were targeting a guard with that other pick in their minds. He really looks a lot more comfortable than he was in summer league and his shot has improved considerably, even if his % will definitely normalize down from 46,3% over the course of the season.

Looks like Mobley is way out in front on defense, followed by Franz, then Barnes.

Mobley is playing great defense while logging 36+ minutes per game having to cover for everyone.

It's a huge task that I don't think is smart. His coach is running him into the ground. The issue is that the Cavs defense goes to shambles when he steps off the court. But that is on the coach to figure it out and not use Mobley, a rookie, physically underdeveloped big as a crutch.

Scottie Barnes continues to put on scoring clinics while operating from the mid range area. Impressive.

Wagner is playing an all around game on both ends. Such a huge turnaround from pre-season. Magic fans should be very happy as it seemed liuke they wrote him off almost after SL and Preseason.

So those 3 rookies are currently in the lead imo, in no particular order.

Didnt expect Franz to play this well, he looks like a guy who might hit that Gordon level ceiling. I saw more of a James Posey type do-it-all 3/D utility guy.

Giddey is just sill on offense, but to really become a star he needs to find a way to get his shot off quicker. He has a really workable form IMO, just a tweak or two to get it out quicker. I think he has the work ethic to make that adjustment.

Well alright the MotorCade gets his 2nd launching tonight against the Champion Bucks.
I'm expecting him to shake off the first game rust and get some shots to fall.
To snag some boards and push the break and bring the energy!

Let's goooooo motorCade!!!!!

I'd add Sengun to this list. Barnes, Mobley, Giddey, Sengun, and Wagner are my favorite players in this class so far.

Gordon....as in Aaron Gordon? as a magic fan i would honestly take Franz over any version of AG we had....i liked the kid but quite a bit of people didn't really know what it was like watching him play in an environment where he didn't have a big homie (i.e.) a bonafide All-Star that he would have to defer to...so we would have to watch him try and be more than he is taking bad shots instead of playing his role like he is now in denver....he's playing better team basketball there, it's great to see him finally accepting his role...
