A good video and I would tend to agree that the contact at the rim and letting defenders use their arms wasn't part of the change as I understand it and likely there's some room to fix that. We'll see how this all works with landing space but certainly that's the only other real concern. Otherwise, I can't imagine anyone would be against the silly stuff that's been going on. Players will adapt but the refs need to adjust a few things still.

Yes let's go back to the days where Harden finishes the season with more FTA than the TEAM that finished first in FTA

Are you saying we are currently watching "2004 prison basketball"?
Anyway, Trae/Harden's style of "basketball" was never as entertaining as the elite players of 2004....

Smart over Lowry on peak both both have very long primes.

Hopefully when the NBA does their 50 greatest floppers of all time both are 1st ballot. Smart should be unanimous GOAT. Some of his best ones I ain’t even mad in fact it’s impressive to put that kind of acting and passion into it.

The fish flop is the best one ever! (He actually hurt himself that’s dedication to your craft)

The Lowry one is such a bad gif to try and hold against a guy. In slow motion everything looks like a flop, but it certainty is not a flop to react to almost taking a smack to the face.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

So which NBA department do we think the OP works in? Marketing, PR, fan relations?

One time, I almost met Jean-Claude Van Damme. Almost.

Based on his posts I'm 100% certain he is not old enough to be employed

Nah it’s a flop. Great performance on the sell.

Reddick got the ball the only thing Lowry got was his own hand to the face.

It’s fine acting work to put your hand over your eyes twice on the way down and land comfortably....... probably means he’s fine don’t you reckon?

Look - we all know this Hardens Burner account...the Currygoat thing ain’t trick NoBody...

We don’t want to go back to offensive players generating fake contact and then acting like they were shot by a sniper with a 50 cal.

The nba product was turning into the wwe and the Olympics proved 2 things

1. High caliber players can play a more physical game

2. A more physical game can be safe and more enjoyable

I don’t want to see that crap ever again...nba is better now.

Harden you just gonna have to adjust

So if I swiped at Kyles face in the mall he would be incapacitated so much that I could “borrow” his championship ring....I’d give it back

I am watching the Last Dance for the first time right now... ye, kinda late to the show.. thought about starting a revisited thread but pretty sure most points have been brought up.. but here's my view of why jordan is GOAT: Detroit's Jordan Rules. if you're complaining about the rules surrounding fouls today, no way could they survive what the pistons did to jordan.. and half of those fouls would've been flagrants by today's standards.

Yeah I think the rule changes are great but they have let a lot slide that shouldnt. Last night Fred Van Vleet get decked on a floater attempt with no call for example.

Intentional fouls to stop fast breaks is something they'll have to change too, im presuming next year because its been so blatant. Athletic had a good article about it. with the lower number of foul calls players/teams are less likely to be in foul trouble so they are doing those intentional fouls to stop the clock and prevent an advantage or to get a breather

Didn't they say years ago that they were going to start treating intentional fouls as unsportsmanlike fouls or did I just dream that?

A flagrant foul to a 12th man with fines picked up by the owner aren't really much of an impediment compared to knocking a superstar out of a series. What's happened is that the players have decided amongst themselves that trying to kill each other is not in their collective best interests.

Maybe that's the LeBron Rules?

I don't recall him taking shots (aka elbows to the face) like he did in his early playoff series .vs. the Wizards way before he started basically running the league.

Although I’m liking what the NBA is trying to do in giving defenses more freedom, lately it’s been feeling like an overcorrection. I get trying to discourage unnatural foul baiting attempts, but it’s felt like actual fouls are being called less often. I’m sure refs will adjust as the season goes on and fouls will start to go back up.

It’s not offensive foul. If you’re baited in to committing a foul then play better defense. You can now jump at jump shooters without being penalize. This will happen again

That's still a foul. Infact thats still a flagrant in todays rules. Please post better evidence as you have just made up this **** right here

I just want a happy medium. No overt foul baiting but I do want them to actually call normal fouls, which is not what they're currently doing.

And don't tell the other Trae fanboys I'm anti-baiting or I'll have to sit in the corner at the next meeting. Oh, you didn't know we had meetings? :)

The new rules are the best thing to happen to the NBA in a long time. Let them play. Don't need to call touch fouls.

In any case, it's really not THAT physical. They are just letting players play similarly to Fiba or international rules. It's not like they are allowing hand checking etc. That could really bring back the low scoring games of previous decades - won't happen imo.

It is a good balance as it is now.
