What bothers me about this is that he signed a 4 year extension that hadn't even kicked in yet and then thought about leaving for 2 months like he was a free agent... What about contracts do players not understand? Say he wanted to go to la, Who would we trade him for? Not that package they traded for Westbrook, obviously. This is ridiculous. This needs to be addressed in the next CBA because this isn't what super Max contracts were invented for.

No, it paints Durant as the dark side of his thoughts and Giannis the light.

I mean the Lakers didn't have anything to trade for Dame. There are limits as to how effective tampering can be. A player under contract for as long as Dame can only force his way out, he can't force himself to a specific team that lacks the trade assets.

Who cares if he wants to play with LeBron and AD? The NBA soap opera that is Lillard and every other disgruntled NBA star is becoming tired news. AD and LeBron are not going anywhere; so the Lakers have like zero assets that could net Lillard.

My short answer, I am not going to finna give any credence to this click bait story. Now if we are talking Simmons for Lillard. I think the story might have some legs.

Haynes never fails to print the TMZ headlines (usually headlined by a Klutch client).

Giannis a legit MVP caliber player with a freakish body and he's arguably the best defensive player in the league. Dame in my opinion is a top 10 player but he isn't necessarily MVP caliber.

I just don't see the Blazers with a chance of making it past the 2nd round unless they somehow trade for another legit top 10 NBA player.

It's tough, I respect his loyalty.
Blazers have not built very well around him but the core problem that gets overlooked sometimes is that Dame is simply not good enough to build a contender around. Pistons aside, you don't win a title with a player as (relatively) weak as Dame as your best player. As you imply, give Dame Giannis's supporting cast and you've got yourself a second round exit.

I know some people acknowledge this, but others act like Dame is trapped in a situation akin to LeBron's first stint in Cleveland. The Blazers haven't made great moves, but there's no moves they could realistically make to build a real contender with Dame Lillard as the #1 guy

Dame would need to be like the Admiral and for his team to get the next Tim Duncan. He’s just outgunned.

CJ for Ben Simmons is the best available move. Dame should push for it.

You know LeBron & AD went after Giannis the off-season prior to this? Lillard worked out with Giannis last summer. So he knows that for sure.

LBJ's a bit of a team-up tart, eh? It was DeMar this past summer (but he didn't oblige the MLE for the privilege) and RW, #2 some time before that (who did his own shameless 'recruiting', once even while playing against the opponent in the playoffs), AD, Dame... guy wines and dines 'em.

Sort of feels like Dame's trying to get ahead of a potential tampering expose, but I'm glad after the Italian salad and rose wine that Dame still doesn't like the taste of superteaming up. Smart of him to come full circle to Giannis in his story...

probably plays a big part on his longevity. He knew from the get go the benefit of getting another star to carry the load.

westbrook can at least bring relevance to small markets which is what pdx all wants. they dont care winning rings like lakers only playoff revenue. if you hate his arrogance, trade him to a wasteland.

I think the main objection is chasing glory a certain kind of way. His usage has remained around a whopping 30% throughout his career and his fewest ever MPG was 33.4. The way he gets and is perceived to get players from other teams has been consistent, too.

I guess this is the poor Dame cannot team up in LA thread. Good grief this is a pitiful article/take.

I mean, why would they trade him to LA? The Lakers have nothing the Blazers would want as the centerpiece to a lillard trade.

Actions speak louder than words.

What Lillard says doesn't matter.

Lillard met with LeBron to discuss leaving Portland. That's the story. Lillard is not in love with Portland and he is not committed to Portland. Where he ends up is anyone's guess.

Lakers have no assets outside of AD.

Trade would have to be centered around AD to get a conversation started.

the way he has been playing the Blazers would be better off with Simmons
