Simmons is more talented than Gobert, the difference is Gobert clearly improved both on offense and on defense compared to his rookie season. Simmons improved on defense but regressed on offense, because defense is more about having experience playing games and understanding positioning, while offense is more about improving your game off the court, something our little primadonna is allergic to do.

Because he's willing to take an open dunk?

So your also think that Seth Curry is better offensively than LeBron?

I honestly don't know why people bother to post this kind of low - effort illogical guff. 'He's better at the most important thing, therefore he's better overall' is like what you'd expect from a fifth-grader

Because he's correctly executing his role in the offense and he inproved so much since he joined the league that nobody thinks he's underachieving.
Anyway, where are you living? He constantly gets criticized for that here.

Well this season, Rudy is actually out there, like, playing games and stuff. Like he's on the court playing basketball and satisfying the terms he signed a contract for. Where Simmons is hiding and not playing and wanting to be paid.

So there's, like that.

Then when they do play, Gobert will actually try to dunk the ball when he's in position to. So, there's like that too.

I mean rudy often has extremely advantageous situations to score and cant even get the ball to attempt to score because his teammates dont trust him. The heat were comfortable switching tyler herro onto him and still thought trying to score on butler bam and pj tucker was better offense. Anyone who watches this team can tell how vulnerable they are to teams that switch against the jazz due to rudy's offensive game. Its probably just as crippling as what ben simmons does to a half court offense. Im just saying. idk if being forced into iso ball is worse than what ben makes your team have to do, but the similarities are real.... before ben put on his diaper and decided to start crying and throwing poop at the walls of course.

bbalnation wrote:This whole "hes a center ben is a point guard" is as all or nothing as the OP saying that Rudy can't score.

Positions matter less than they ever have, and it looks like they will matter even less in the next generation. If you can't stretch teams out and/or punish them offensively, you're a liability on that side of the ball.

Rudy CAN score, and is a great interior finisher. Hes just limited in the ways he can score, especially creating for himself and others. And that matters more in the playoffs.

Sure, if Ben was willing to play C or even PF for some team AND he was willing to finish at the rim - his shooting would matter a lot less - but that doesn't seem to be the case. According to reports, he wants to be a team's PG and engine and his lack of shooting harms his ability to play on the perimeter.

The thing is the Sixers didn't send him home - they've always been willing to try to deal with his flaws - and they're not trying to dump him for scraps. Whether he actually meant it or not, why didn't Rich Paul convince Ben to say he was sorry for letting his team and fans down and would continue to work on his flaws to avoid a repeat in the future? How hard is that?

Instead he's our poster child for player empowerment out of control.

The offense doesn't revolve around Rudy, and he's still criticized

If felt like Gobert did not miss a free-throw in the two games against the Kings - so that's why.

Edit: Just checked the box score, 9/10 and 6/9 from the free throw line in those 2 games against Sac.
Celtics fan.
We also face the Kings twice in the near future. I think it's time Yabu pays back some of that free money he's been given his entire career and bounces Fox for a nice 2 week ankle sprain.

gobert absolutely gets criticized heavily for his offensive handicaps. that's almost everything you hear when jazz gets knocked out of the playoffs. but even gobert doesn't pass up an open dunk. but more importantly what gobert doesn't do when he gets criticized is go incommunicado and act like a baby. THAT is what simmons is getting roasted for now.
screw these absolute garbage refs

Because he's a center. Ben Simmons is a lead ball handler. Lead ball handlers should be able to create shots for themselves in a half court offense. It's nice if a center can do that but it's not usually part of their role.

The olympics proved that Rudy can abuse smaller guys in the post but that is not Utah’s system, it’s about getting the most efficient shot. Rudy has also been trying to extend out the FT line extended on shots, he doesn’t take a lot of those because it’s not efficient, Snyder’s system is about efficiency, so dunks, corner 3’s, 3’s, and drives.
Ingles is cooked.

People who think Simmons is anywhere near the same tier defensively as Gobert don't have a clue. Gobert as a center doesn't provide you volume scoring, but still some 15ppg, same range as Simmons and FAR more efficiently. Really all Simmons does better is pass but thats expected.

Spoiler:
White privlilage. Rudy gobert is a Arab and Arabs are white as they have Caucasian phenotypes ben Simmons is a aboriginal who white folks tried to wipe off . Black men get it 100 times worse by white owned media like espn despite white Arab Rudy gobert not having a lack of offensive moves besides over the back dunks.
