He would be great. He would score more and probably less rebounds. Wonder how the 3 would work since he was a great shooter. But just wasn’t naturally a 3-point shooter.
Think doncic but more consistent and better skilled .

I think Bird would kill it in today's league.
Lol. No one who watched hoops said that.

he was 6'9" with good handle, could pass the **** out of the ball, and could shoot the absolute **** out of the ball. He'd be a perennial MVP candidate.

He would be a way better player than prime Lebron lmaooooo
lmao prime Lebron is far greater than Bird man. Get serious
Debate. Bird had him as a scorer, shooter and passer. Lebron so athletic and powerful.

A monster no doubt
6”9+ sharpshooter, goat level passer, incredible rebounder, was a better than average defender, can score at a very high clip, can play off ball/on ball.
Basically a player that’s beyond perfect for todays game? It’d have to be Bird. Thing is you basically can’t stop him from having an enormous impact because he affects every facet of the game up to an elite way.
Foul him? Lol
Get him off ball with traps? Lol yeah doubling Bird is stupid
Push in transition or facilitate? Elite
Rebounder as a SF? Elite
Shooting? Elite
Score? Yep yep
Top 5 player in the comp. More effective lean better shooting Luka with more team orientation. Or Lebron ball with more inclusion.
I mean he basically averaged peak Lebron numbers for years on end too.

Curry and Durant are absolutely at that level (at the very least, close) at their best. Harden has the skill, but does not have the mind-set. They are both arguably top 15 All Time while still in their prime for a reason.

Ya gotta take the L here. Steph best shooter ever. But bird’s shooting takes a back seat to no one.

in the mid 2000's where the athletic marvel that was Steve Nash won back to back MVP's?
skill is skill. Anyone who has a feel for the game, passing ability, shoots 50/38/89 at a high volume would be a star in any era.

Bird beats all three in rebounding, passing, defense, facilitating and is a better shooter than Harden is.
Harden doesn’t belong in this convo.
He’s basically a different Lebron.

Please Harden is not top 15 all time he’s not even top 20.

I lean Bird > Durant for the playmaking (defense is close to me), but Curry is close enough in that regard as well as being the GOAT shooter and a better scorer in general (not an easy task when talking about Bird). It leaves them as debatable players at their best (I would not argue that either are better, but saying they're "not close" feels objectively wrong). I did not say Harden is top 15. I'm talking about Curry and KD. Harden is a tier below all of them (again, strictly due to his mind set).

Yeah I think players today are better…. Generally speaking. But if these younguns don’t put some respect on Larry Bird’s name.. swear I’ma bite my left foot off.
That was a bad, bad man… the Bad Boys 30 for 30 said it best when Isiah was talking about his mother describing his jumpshot. Silent Death lol..

I’ve got Durant by a hair for the handle and overall defense (when he wants to), but you can argue it both ways and both people would be right.

bird was odd. in 6 of his 12 seasons he shot above 40% but also shot below 30% in 4 of his 12 seasons. I'd still consider him a great shooter, Steph and Klay shattered our previous notions about what was possible.

Considering Lebron isn't the best player in the league at the moment, of course.

Bird was a 50/40/90 shooter with excellent court vision. He would show you how easy the NBA has gotten.
Yeah see this is tough, because players today didn’t have to deal with a more physical NBA. What Larry and them did against players whose sole jobs was to be physical and body you..
Look at how players like Trae and Dame and Harden are complaining about the new rules this year. Older players are literally shaking their heads like what would I have been able to do with this league.?

Lebron's def not the best anymore, but if he's talking about peak then Lebron was better. I don't know if Larry would be the best player right now (I don't even know who is between Jokic/KD/Curry/Giannis), but he'd be in the discussion.

Re: How Would Larry Bird Rate Against Todays' Players?
Lebron is 37
Peak Bird? Definite best player or easily in the convo.
26/9.5/6.5 and very close to 50/40/90 splits basically what he averaged at his peak.
Remember today Birds getting 5+ 3PA’s + loads of extra space to operate and modern offensive schemes so each team he’s on gets the extra wing to space it out.
So Lebron stats with better shooting.
F that lol.
Luka basically bums around and puts up 25/8/8 in his sleep.
