For like half the season they were a mediocre playin team....and then just randomly decided screw that and here we are.

They have the 3rd best point differential in the entire league which is quite a turnaround to where they were a few months ago.

lol Yeah I don't think i've ever seen a team that just decided to dominate midway through a season with no major roster changes. Granted they had a ton of injuries early including covid and a brand new coach. Their net rating since Jan 1st is far and away the best in the league.

lol Yeah I don't think i've ever seen a team that just decided to dominate midway through a season with no major roster changes. Granted they had a ton of injuries early including covid and a brand new coach. Their net rating since Jan 1st is far and away the best in the league.

For the Celtics, it really was just about getting the core players to buy in to the system of ball movement and defense. Brad Stevens was trying to implement this the past few years but unfortunately the players tuned him out and he didn't have the right players for the system he wanted to run. So he went out and got the perfect players for Ime's switching scheme, and Ime's been a fantastic communicator who knew how to challenge the Jays (and Smart) and push the right buttons for them to elevate their game. And they've responded beautifully.

I'm excited about this Celtics team, but I don't want to sing their praises too much when it comes to the title picture. Remember all those Bucks fans in 2019 who arrogantly flaunted their team's historic SRS rating, only to get smacked by the Raptors in the ECF? All these metrics won't really mean much in the playoffs especially when you face off against a team that's peaking at the right time.
