Wizards Unveil “Cherry Blossom” Uniforms

For a team called the Wizards, the Wizards have nothing about Wizards. Their mascot isn’t a wizard, their logo isn’t a wizard, DC isn’t known for wizards, there’s nothing about wizards on their jerseys, and there’s nothing about wizards in their stadium.

The NBA has all these alternate jerseys, and I still don’t think the Wizards have a Wizard themed jersey.

I don't know if the NBA would have allowed it, but the dark blue background with pink cherry blossoms blowing across the empty space would have looked amazing.

That's a decently close image to what I was looking for, but I've seen the fabric that would have matched almost exactly before.

My problem with the Wizards jerseys it's very hard to make out that the jerseys have a flower theme at all from a distance. If you are watching them on TV and they are at the typical distance away when not zooming in on any group of players you can't tell. At least the Timbers uniform has the flowers very apparent, and prominent.

Yes if the zoom in on a player or two or you are watching the game at a much closer spot in the arena you can clearly see the flowers in that case.

Where is the correlation with cherry blossoms and washington? I get that they have cherry blossom trees in dc but its not even a native tree here in america..Rui rocks it tho.

Yeah I wish they'd lean in to it more. Lots of potential there and I am sure some gifted artists could come up with some cool schemes and mascots.

They have spread over the USA a lot in recent years, while Japan is still the cherry blossom King, other areas have a wide array of them now.

They grow pretty easily in most climates, meaning that any city that wants to make them a thing can easily do so. Driving around Portland I see them a lot and they are very noticeable as Spring approaches.

It appears though DC has the most, while Seattle and Portland make the top 4 most cherry blossoms in the USA DC wins.

the blended washed shorts doesn't look too good. the top looks fine but the bottoms look like an unfinished art project.
