One of the worst games to watch in the NBA playoffs is game 4 when a team is up 3-0. The team down 3-0 is discouraged and the team up 3-0 is likely going to play a meh game. It's a game that should be eliminated. Plus, how awesome would the game 3s be if a team is down 2-0? It'd feel like game 7. It would also put more emphasis on the first 2 games, making each game in the series much more enjoyable.
Yes or no?
I HAD TO login just to tell you how horrible these ideas are.
But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, even I have made some posts after drinking (not saying you were)
On the contrary could you imagine how EXCITING it would be to have a game 7 after a team going down 3-0?

Also, it is posts like this that further validate the implementation of the "anti-And1" or the "Foul".
For instance, a post like this is currently sitting at 1 And1s and would probably have about 30 Fouls. It would give us a fun indication of any potential poster's mindset.

No, but maybe yes for Seed 1 on first round, and maybe for Seed #2 too, so.more.fight for top.spots, and not like this year in the east when all rest players at the end.

The fans of the team without HCA still deserve both games at home, win or lose. This sport is still primarily for the paying fans at the stadiums who pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars, not random people at home watching on TV paying nothing. Even if they statistically can't win after losing the first 3, if they pull off 1 win out of 2 games in their home court they've still given their fans a show.
And those season ticket holders & live fans are the ones paying everyone's paychecks.

Welcome to NBA fans, apparently the only fanbase that actually wants less games at any opportunity.
Hey we should also now make all PO series just one game since it will be more exciting!
Let's cut the regular season to 32 games!
Let's shorten the games and remove any stoppage!
I swear you don't hear this crap from MLB fans which have a **** ton more games.

No, history will be made one of these years. Need 4 wins to kill a team, doesn’t change no matter what.

Who among us didn't play with "shut outs" on the basketball court or ping pong table? I like the idea, but the dudes getting paid for that extra game will never, ever acquiesce to this.

Why even have series then? Just make it one game, winner takes all.

It used to be best of 5 in the 1st round but then the league wanted to give underdog teams a chance and extended it to 7.
I am not opposed to it but the league isn't going to go back to the 5 game format anytime soon.

I'm sure they did it for more money. It seems best of 7 would give underdogs less of a chance.
As for the topic of this thread, it isn't completely insane. We have never had a team down 0-3 win a series, but by that logic they shouldn't play 4th quarters when a team is down 30 or more.
Sometimes you just got to play the game. NBA would never give up the money anyway.

You'd still need 4 wins to kill a team unless you go up 3-0, in which the series is basically over.
The idea is to place more importance and intensity in the first 3 games to avoid a pointless, boring game 4 where a team is up 3-0.

That's...not what the OP is proposing.
Best of 5 means if a team is up 2-1 and wins, the series is over.
This idea still requires a 7-game series unless a team goes up 3-0, in which they clinch the series.

Re: Should the Series Be Over if a Team Goes up 3-0?
As for the OP, they honestly should. Sure, a 3-0 comeback MIGHT happen once every century, like it did in the '04 ALCS, but that's not a legitimate enough reason imo to keep a series going when everyone knows it's already over.
Obv, this isn't an issue I have a huge stake in, I could care less if they keep a series going with a team up 3-0, but keeping the economic aspect aside, I for sure would not miss those Game 4's of a 3-0 series lol.

Better idea...if a team is up 3-0, just don't watch if you're not interested.

Someone coming back from 3-0.....plus what if your star is hurt or suspended for a few of those games...or the other teams start get hurt or suspended in the 3rd game....
