It must not be that crazy or they wouldn't be doing it. Their team profit to salary ratio must be insane

At least Dame is fun to watch and occasionally be dat dude who you don't wanna mess with. Beal ain't even fly bruh.

I actually find him fun to watch, considering his team has been a lot worse than Dame's over the years.

Beal never had a major platform to show his talent in the post season which gives you the impression that Dame had those stunning moments over Beal. It's not a fair comparison, but that actually made his new extension look even worse. It's all about $$$.

Dame is now going pat himself on the back at how loyal he is, like he always does. Dude is getting 60 million dollars a year to play basketball. That is ridiculous as it gets

Beal is worse, giving that contract to a 2nd option is dumb

Dame has a worse deal by a long mile.

Beal is about 3 years younger so his dropoff years shouldn’t be as bad on the final years of his deal. Both guys shouldn’t be number 1’s and their contracts will kill a team as the number 2 so age is the deciding factor.

Good on the boys for getting theirs but the money getting thrown around lately is crazy!

2 completely different situations. Harden is past his prime dame is in it.

Dame is only one year younger than Harden plus he is coming off a major injury. Don’t see how these are completely different situations. Harden took a major paycut to allow the team to add more quality while Lillard s deal basically guarantees Blazer mediocrity for the next five years

Why though?
They already had him under contract until what should be the end of his prime

Dame's loyalty is great, but he shouldn't have gone public several years ago about staying loyal, not wanting to join and superteam and basically saying he was a Blazer for life.

It was nice intentions, but it basically took all pressure off the organization to surround him with a better team.

Yeah because making your organization better is such a silly thing to do, why would they ever wanna do that...

Insanity. If I was a Team, I would rather trade any Player commanding that kind of money. My Goal is to build a competitive Team, not to be handcuffed cap wise by 1 Player who while loyal, has not brought me anywhere, and wont, like this.

Yep pure insanity. People obsess about guys being loyal, but organizations need to know when to pull the plug. Lillard isnt worth that. In 10 years he has never won a single conference finals game and only been there once. This is idiocy by portland

They're different situations in the simple fact that one team was over the cap and in luxury tax territory if their FA didn't opt out for a lower cap # (James harden)

The other players team was under the cap, resigned guys, added guys through trades and FA. There was nothing Dame could've done to give Portland more room under the cap this szn

He isn't worth that in your eyes, as far as the blazers are concerned, they're paying their best player, the player they drafted and developed. The alternative is trading him for pennies on the dollar and future picks, or you try and build with your lifelong best player and tank or blow it up when he retires or ask for a trade.

You guys complain about Supersteams and then complain when small market teams keep their best players.... Weird flex....

I mean at some point can't you be like, isn't 40m/yr enough so we can try and win? Super teams stink but so do teams that wreck their cap over a loyal star that won't bring them close to a title.
Inadequate perception I reckon it's from the Valium

He had three years left on his contract. This extension is idiotic.

Couldn't they at least wait to see how he does after his injury/down season?

I don't even know why the Blazers felt like they had to extend him.

About 2x as much as Harden. Is Dame worth twice of what Harden is?!!

This isn’t ‘not running from the grind’, it’s running to the bag and running away from pressure. He will get praises for being loyal while dudes that leave their trash teams for a chance of winning get flamed. When you join a good team you’re expected to win now, all the pressure is on you. I respect that more than staying in one place, collecting the most money you can make, and chilling from year-to-year with no chance of winning.

Now that I've given it more thought. The Blazers should've never given him this extension and been insulted that he even asked for it.

A down year and he wants a 120 million extension? What the!?

That's insulting.
