Saying Sabonis isn’t as talented as Giannis or Jokic is truly laughable. A prime pre-injured would have been one of the best NBA centers of all time. He was a bigger stronger faster Jokic.

He may have been bigger and stronger, but he wasn't nearly as talented.

Arguing that his Euroleague accolades mean something is pure conjecture. Anthony Parker also looked like Michael Jordan in Europe. That didn't translate to the NBA game.

No he didn't.

Team 3

If prime Sabonis then not even close

Team 1 is intriguing too, I'm surprised it got so little votes

Team 2 imo is the weakest

Is this a joke thread?

Dejan Bodiroga is a genius smarter and better than of the guys in teams 1 and 2, so team 3 wins this easily.

I don't care if this isn't peak Sabonis, but I'm sure Team 3 would make a deep playoff run right now.

Team 3, as talented as it is, has the worst fit. Two bigs that served better as centers and two ball-hogs in Doncic and Bodiroga (with limited espacing for both of them). Also a very slow team defensively.

I think I like Team 2 the most.

Obviously, the best version of each player.

They have the most talent (they are the only team with with 2 MVP-level players on it), and their players fit together like a glove.

- Giannis is one of the most physically dominant bigmen of all time, and an all-time great defender.
- Jokic is the best passing big of all time and one of the most dynamic scoring bigs of all time.
- Peja is one of the best shooters of all time.
- Bojan is another elite shooter.

That would be a historically good team, not just among Euros, but among all basketball teams.

So which one of the Doncic - Sabonis (I assume in prime) is not an MVP candidate in your opinion?

Giannis and Jokic have 4 MVP awards between them. Luka and Sabonis have 0.

Luka will probably win one or two at some point, but even then, Sabonis was nowhere near as talented as Giannis or Jokic.

Just curious...How much of Sabonis have you actually seen?

How the hell is Bodiroga a ball-hog?

Hard to debate. Team 1 looks so balanced. I have to go with them

I feel some people are thinking about an idealized Sabonis version that never existed. That would be a somehow mature pre-injury player. But his Achilles problems started when he was only 21 years old, the following year he had to stop playing and after that, in terms of athleticism, he never got anywhere close to his former self.

Perhaps ball-hog is too harsh, but peak Bodiroga needed the ball to be truly great. He's not anywhere near the best fit next to Luka.

That goes without saying. If we're talking about basketball talent and skill, Petrovic is to Bodiroga what LeBron is to PG13, and that's being generous.

It takes extreme levels of homerism to believe Bodiroga could hold a candle to Petrovic. And to think team 3 wins this comparison thanks to the worst player in its roster is more of the same.

And I say this as a huge fan of Bodiroga, don't get me wrong. I was lucky enough to attend to a number of his games and he was the best player on the court every single time I watched him.

But we should cut Sgt Major some slack, it's pretty easy to figure out why he's saying that if you know him as a poster.

What? Please explain.

I grew up watching Bodiroga tear apart clubs and national teams, no matter who was on the other side of the floor. That's not homerism, that's history.
