Sun's, Mavs, and Lakers are the winners.

Hard to pick a lower because it's most teams who didn't do anything lol.

The biggest losers are Denver Nuggets, they could be out in the first round of the play off's if they get to play Golden State. Too much of trust placed in Porter, who looked like an amateur two play off's ago.

Best asset Charlotte received for sending out Plumlee + McDaniels was their own 2023 2nd round pick. So yeah...not a good day for them.

They’re winners in my opinion. They stacked up on multiple first round picks for the foreseeable future and have a bunch of young potential stars. Their moves remind me of the Celtics moves when they traded Paul Pierce and Garnett

I don't see any future stars on the roster

-Cam Thomas: Will be a nice player but lacks in too many areas to be anything more than a high volume, inefficient scorer.
-Nic Claxton: Great defensive player but suited to a complementary role.
-Mikal Bridges: Nice player, 3rd option on a championship team at best.
-Cam Johnson: role player

Any valuable lottery picks go directly to Houston. The Suns picks will be low 20s and do not change the outlook. Maybe they'll get lucky and Luka will leave the Mavs making the '29 pick a high lottery pick. That's about the only thing we have to hope for.

Yeah the Raptors may have made a mistake by not being sellers in the trade deadline. OG Anunoby trade value likely won't be higher than what it was before the trade deadline and there's no telling who's going to happen with Gary trent Jr. and Fred VanVleet in the Summer. They simply now have to hope that they resign in the Off Season.

I don’t know that I’d agree with this. The Raptors are a lot better team than their record shows. Sagarin for instance has them as the 11th best team in the NBA just based on how they’ve played this season. They also have a very young core with every key price being between 21 and 28. Why blow it up now and go through years of suffering just to get back to the place you’re at now?

Even if this years a bit of a lost cause, adding a good piece and getting a year of development out of the young guys could easily get you to a top 4 seed next year. I think they did the right thing choosing patience over haste. Give it another shot with a slightly upgraded team next year and you’ll probably get much better results.

Raptors are huge losers. Not only did they not trade any upcoming free agents, but they added another one LOL

John wall being traded back to the rockets is absolutely hilarious.

The NBA front office clearly sent a memo to the rest of the league demanding they help their precious Lebron and lakers get back into the playoffs, or else. They got an entire new bench for nothing.

Suns, Mavs, Lakers the obvious winners, but I think the Clippers, if they get Westbrook, will also be winners. They'd look like:

Zubac / Plumlee
Kawhi / Morris
George / Cov / Batum
Powell / Gordon / Mann
Westbrook / Hyland

They'd have gotten a PG and improved their depth at C and SG.

The fact the Bulls are such an afterthought that most of you can’t even bother to put them in your ‘Losers’ column is awesome. What a time to be a fan.

Winners:

Lakers, Suns, Clips, Jazz, Wolves, Denver, Bucks, Mavs ... I think all those teams made nice solid, sensible moves.

Losers:

Raps, GSW, Blazers, Hawks, Knicks, Bulls, Pels, Heat

LOL at the Heat the most... they would show up as "interested" in every single rumor for months. Pat Riley must have been taking a nap today.

I agree/disagree. You're knocking them for what happened this deadline based on what they did year, s ago acquiring Harden. If you judge them strictly on the moves this past 2 weeks, it's pretty decent. I mean, I can't think of another solution but to cave to Kyrie and pay him but once he went public, it was a ****. They did just enough to not be the worst team in the NBA and just hand over picks to Houston but they are now sort of stuck in the purgatory of low end mediocrity. Bunch of high level/coveted role players who can either play elite D, be elite shooters, or do a lot of both. I think Vaughn can keep them in the playoff picture this year and possibly going forward. Just going to be impossible to get off that treadmill for years until the can cash in on PHX's 1sts that could end up very high lottery. I think they essentially have to play hard, up their players' trade values and eventually go all in on a trade - unless they find a Jokic in the 2nd round.

Lakers won, IMO.

Sixers are one of the big losers, traded Thybulle for an even worse player in Jalen Mcdaniels, getting worse, but that's Morey for you.
Can't wait for another second round exit!

I honestly can't evaluate this deadline off the top of my head because there were so many trades.

I guess the best I can do is sum up all the moves and put them in two categories:

Actual players got traded trades:

Winners:
  • Suns - traded non allstars and picks for KD. Best trade.
  • Lakers - got rid of WestBrick and BevBrick and a pick for a younger PG that can actually score which they desperately needed
  • Bucks - win now team got a win now player who will certainly be fresh. Could get them into the finals for the price of "2nd round picks"
  • Nets - great trade given the situation they were in. Fully recouped a rebuild in one week's time despite the baggaged they were selling.

Small Winners:
  • Warriors - trade Wiseman for GP3rd
  • Mavs - well they did something, but they signed up for the most toxic player in history so good luck.
  • Clippers - almost put this in don't pay attention to level. But I think they improved overall maybe here.

Losers:
  • Teams that were in playoff contention with aging stars and didn't do anything or just shuffled chairs on the titanic
  • And teams that should be tanking but didn't, in this case only the Raptors.
  • And maybe the Nuggets but honesty Bones for T.Bryant... I don't even know how to rank that. Might be net immaterial overall.

Don't pay attention to these ones, less than 5 seconds were traded trades:
Rest of the trades I didn't mention. Not worth mentioning.

Big Winners: Lakers, Clippers, Suns, Milwaukee, Mavericks
Small Winners: Pelicans, Warriors, Jazz, Spurs, Grizzlies, Hawks

Meh: Wolves, Knicks, Raptors

Losers: Playoff teams that didn't address needs (Cavs, Heat, Kings). Teams that didn't blow up Chicago, Portland
Big Loser: Nets. Went from Contender to not offering Kyrie a contract. Now in no mans land with so many good role players but no stars. Didn't even get any assets out of those vets

The Heat showed just how incompetent they are today. It's my team but im not afraid to throw them under the bus for this level of gross incompetence.

Nets over the Marks tenure have shown ability to draft and develop non-blue chip prospects. They even made DLo briefly look like a franchise cornerstone and worth a MAX deal. So what you hope for is that trend to continue. Find some more Jarrett Allens, Claxtons, Cam Thomases, etc....

Then trade those chips in for an all-star who wants out. Show you're a well run organization and get players who want to go there and hopefully they're hungry to win and not looking for something beyond that like KD/Kyrie (who had already won).
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Obviously Thomas Bryant is an upgrade over Deandre, but he is still a funky fit. He's a horrific defender, the Nuggets dont need an offensive spark coming off the bench in the 5 spot. They need a big that can hold down the fort for a few minutes while Jokic sits.

And they make no other move. Youre the #1 seed, you have the best player, you see a ton of teams around you reloading. And all you do is Bones and a 2nd for Thomas Bryant? Felt like they needed to be more aggressive.

Denver cut salary again. Getting rid of Bones' salary. I beginning to think the reason why they weren't aggressive was that they didn't want to take on more salary.
