Loosen up people. It can be read as a naughty double entendre that some people find funny and some don't, so what? What is the actual harm here?
Community standards shouldn't be determined by the most prudish and hyper-sensitive amongst us.
It’s a different world now. I took training class on what I couldn’t say at work. Now I don’t say anything but strictly keep it about work or business.
Agreed, and there is certainly no place for blatantly misogynist or racist or homophobic stuff in the workplace or civil discussion, but the trend of catering community standards to the most-easily offended amongst us has been taken way too far (in too many cases to the point of absurdity) and is starting to provoke considerable backlash even amongst otherwise liberal and progressive-minded people.
The nickname in question also doesn't victimize any oppressed groups I know of, unless you maybe count pornstars.
I mean at this point the only offended person in this thread is you. Different people are triggered by different things.
I actually think I agree with your general take on the subject. I also think you're massively overreacting to this particular case and mischaracterizing what I said.
No one got in trouble for saying it. I didn't even say people couldn't say it. And I certainly didn't clutch my pearls. I only asked for folks to be cool and please make the personal decision to not say it. But if you feel the need to say *** Bucket for some reason ok fine lol.
If I put myself in Kuminga's shoes I don't think I'd love people calling me that on the internet. And for all we know there are 8 year old Kuminga fans and who are reading this thread and asking their mom what a *** Bucket is. We have a wide range of different people here and try to create an atmosphere where everyone is comfortable. So I was just asking for people's voluntary help on the matter. Seemed pretty innocuous to me.
