He use euro to hide his real intentions , he's still an active player. He didn't think of Gobert and Giannis I am pretty sure of that. Like that ex egg ball bozo on ESPN said yesterday. They are starting that race talk on the purpose , its the platform to shame certain players and the voters who are voting for them.

Of course the week before he said the Celtics were the best team, and now he says the Bucks are the best team and Giannis is the best player. But I remember the Nuggets/Jokic thing specifically because he's always on the C's bandwagon when he does Boston media stuff but then on ESPN he was on the Nuggets bandwagon lol.

Point being the guy just says stuff to get attention and changes his mind every two days depending on the reaction he gets. I'd like it if we didn't give him that attention.

Haha yup. Perk has just done a basic shotgun approach to all of this. Hell it’s been pretty blatant this has been his approach since he got hired by ESPN. The dude will make a narrative that completely contradicts a narrative he was pushing just a week ago. People continue to eat it up though.

How does an absolute scrub like Perkins (when he was a player) that cannot articulate a single sentence properly and has a face for radio get such a big platform?

Seriously?

Where’s Smush Parker and Earl Clark’s ESPN jobs at?

People will sit and complain about this stuff, but then go on and click on the videos. They didn’t hire Perk to make hard hitting well thought out basketball takes. They hired Perk to get clicks and views. And so far, at least for the 2nd half of the NBA season, Perk has been ESPN’s MVP for their basketball coverage. The guy is most likely going to get a bonus or at minimum more air time because of this.

I always wonder how this works in real life and if it's worth it.

Ok, maybe "how" is not the right word, but what I mean is that guys like Perk and Skip Bayless and co. play total clowns on tv. But unlike, say, Bozo the Clown from back in the day they are not in actual clown garb. They are just acting like provocative idiots. At least the guy who played Bozo had the garb to hide behind.

At some point, this is what they become known for. Even if you could actually talk with them in private and realize they are all just trolling for money, at best that makes them trolls, but at worst that's not going to happen and you'll have thousands/millions/etc. of people believing you are an idiot, and at some point the opinion of the masses effects your legacy and how your viewed.

So, is the perks of being a dumb troll worth it? Sure, you get tons of money and all the attention in the world you want, and perhaps that is worth it for many people. It seems like the downside is that thousands of people will actually believe you're a moron, even if you're just acting like one or leaning into the role.

What I can't stand is the people who push back on the idea that they're not morons. They're just acting like them. Eh, I don't believe most of them are that talented to just act like morons.

I do think it may have had more intent than that, but I still edited him out because it’s more gray area, and want to be fully accurate. That being said, I do think if someone active in the NBA was gonna say something dumb like that it’s likely to be Draymond or Dillon Brooks

When it comes to Perk, I personally think he’s horrible at what he does. Not only does he suck at getting whatever narrative he’s trying to push out coherently. The dude constantly contradicts himself. I don’t think there is any skill to what he’s doing. I honestly think it’s as basic as the shotgun approach where he will just throw out random narrative after random narrative. Then once he sees one getting some traction he just steers into it. I think the more talented guys in this area (public trolling) are much better at hiding the blatant shotgun approach. But with that said, people still eat it up.

When it comes to the rest of your post. I really don’t think any of that matters. The vast majority of these guys have surrounded themselves with yes men. So when you factor in that, making lots of money, and we can’t overlook the amount of people that actually go along with the troll narratives. Ya I don’t think the thousands of people that hate on him has any effect on him whatsoever.

Nobody. It's such an US thing to try and create bullcrap narratives as to why someone isn't deserving. Is he the best player in the league this season? Yes. Is his team the on top of the western conference? Yes.

In football it was basically Messi and Ronaldo getting the bulk of Ballon d'ors for like over 10 years. There were no voter fatigue because in order to vote looking at someone objectively is a must.

People who talk about voter fatigue should never ever be allowed to vote. People who bring race into it should absolutely never EVER be allowed to vote.

So team success matters now?

Is Jokic the best player this season or not?

How big of a part does Jokic have in Nuggets success this season?

Would Nuggets sustain this level of play if Jokic was injured?

That last MVP straw poll really sent the Jokic takes off the rails. This is the culmination.

I don’t even think Perk believes half the stuff he says. He’s just playing a character. He generally speaks highly of Jokic when he isn’t spewing senseless hot takes. The problem is there’s a lot of casual sports fans that watch this ****, take it as factual, and go out and perpetuate the toxicity.

I’m surprised the NBA still allows ESPN to control the narratives as much as they do. Jokic is one of the most unique superstars this league has seen, and yet 90% of the segments about him are critical or negative. And that’s true of a lot of the best players, although to a lesser extent I think. There’s so many interesting storylines to be told about the Nuggets and throughout the league, but this is the garbage they would rather focus on. At some point the NBA is going to have to reconsider the way they want the league to be marketed.

This has gotten out of hand. Multiple people suggesting Jokic is receiving accolades and praise because he’s white lately. He’s simply the best NBA player at this point and a lot of nights by A LOT. Is this type of narrative legitimate?

I predict we're not that far away from people erroneously using the race card being overall not worth it, even for clicks. The pandemic stirred up a lot of emotions and it became ok to just blanket blame/discredit white people due to racism. It's not ok obv, just like it wasn't ok to insinuate Maria Taylor was getting more work with ESPN because she was black (as appose to being knowledgeable, hot af, well spoken, and well liked). Guys like Perk and Draymond can enjoy it while it lasts. At least we know who they are now.

If you have watched the NBA you know there is a difference a lot of the time. Jordan only has five, Shaq one, Lebron four for example.

Right. If we went by your criteria Lebron would have probably won it 8 times by now.

MJ would have probably won it 10 times.

Because in the end they were both really the best players.
