People seem to love Austin Reaves so it would be good for the league if he got some all-star slots.

Why not Schroeder and Hollis-Jefferson and co?
The box score vs Greece flattered him. Did you actually watch it?
He was out of control, turned the ball over, tried to turn regular passes into cringey no lookers and got phantom foul trips to the line.
He is trying way too hard to fit in and the real stars around him don’t seem to enjoy it from what body language suggests.
To be fair, we should be expecting that moving forward. He got phantom fouls since he became a professional basketball player.

Hopefully they vote on basketball talent. The West has too many extremely good guards for this to be realistic.
The populous Laker Nation has overwhelmed the All Star voting before. One time they voted in AC Green to start an All Star game ahead of Karl Malone.

Re: Austin Reaves Has Been Great In FIBA ... Could He Be An All-Star?
Reaves is actually a very good player and will probably be the best value contract in the league for several years to come. Making the all star team is a tough ask though. Also, while he is excellent at drawing fouls, his free throw rate was no doubt boosted by virtue of playing for the Lakers, a team that had one of the most illegitimate free throw discrepancies last year.

Re: Austin Reaves Has Been Great In FIBA ... Could He Be An All-Star?
His evolution has been superb. I wouldn't even be shocked if he made an all-star appearence. I'll go even further, I won't be shocked if he has the ball more and more in his hands to define plays as LeBron ages.
I just don't see him as a guy with a lot of size, and that can mean trouble if he's doubled hard. But even if that prediction goes wrong LBJ can very well handle and Reaves be a spot up shooter, he'll definitely score a ton of shots, he's that good.
If somebody told me a year ago we'd be having this thread I'd laugh. But he's really good.

Last year West guards:
Morant, SGA, Lillard, Edwards, Fox (Curry)
So yeah Morant and Lillard may not be there. One of Curry, Fox, Edwards, SGA could be injured..

If Dame is traded East there’s an opening. Murray will be a lock. Booker may not be due to defense
If James rests or misses games and Reeves steps up he could get in. He is getting the biggest cheers for team USA. Some see flashes of many stars on his game. He isn’t quite ready. But he is more ready after every experience

I highly doubt he makes the All-Star team next season as there’s too much guard depth in the West but I believe he will at some point.

I’m a big fan of Reaves but it’s highly unlikely he makes it next season although I guess we can never 100% rule it out.
I think he will make the team at some point in his career but even if Lillard moves East, Jamal Murray seems like a lock and then there’s Devin Booker, Bradley Beal who moved West and Desmond Bane who would get even more touches with Ja Morant out. There’s also Kyrie Irving who always puts up big numbers and the Mavs should at least be in the play-in race.

Explain this. Booker averaged 7 more PPG than Murray last year (on better efficiency) and is a much better defender than Murray. Murray should be better due to ACL recovery but I don’t see how he becomes a lock vs Booker being borderline.
Even in terms of exposure PHX has more national tv games than DEN next year. Booker also has 4x the amount of social media followers than Murray and historically gets 4x the amount of all star votes Murray gets.
Booker is a better player, more popular and on a team that will get more exposure next year. I really have to question why people think he’s a lock and Booker is not (and I like Murray).

Because he just won a championship. Borderline All-Star who just won a championship is essentially a lock.

I don’t disagree that he won’t get a bump but who is he jumping over?
Booker (would have been 4x in a row all star had he not missed games last season)
Curry (better player, fan vote)
Luka (leading vote getter last year)
SGA (1st team all-nba and best player on what will likely be a playoff team)
Then he’s in a battle with Fox, Edwards, Dame (if he’s still in the West) and Kyrie.
I can’t see any way he’s a “lock” like people are suggesting.

Re: Austin Reaves Has Been Great In FIBA ... Could He Be An All-Star?
Go back 2 years. If Lakers didn't have so many open roster spots, does Reaves get a shot there? Does he get playing time anywhere else? Or does the coach leave him on the bench due to questionable defense? How many other players were never given the opportunity and their careers went downhill afterwards? There seems to be so few players in the league who improved after age 22.

He's the perfect third best player on a good team. He'll have no problem stepping up when AD/LBJ rest and his efficiency is insane. He's like a mix between James Harden, Lou Williams, and Jeremy Lin.
I say he averages 20/5/5 this year.
