Most hated player poll

I'm not wasting precious blood pressure on hating a stranger, but there are definitely players I most enjoy laughing at when they fail.

Hate is a strong word. I don't "hate" anyone.

However, my top most disliked players are Draymond (for his ongoing dirty play and antics); Harden (because he seems like a self-entitled jerk with a questionable work ethic); and Embiid (because I'm a Raptors fan , and because he seems to be the most "throw my teammates under the bus" type of guy when things go bad. Oh, and also for the airplane thing...)

You should have thought a little bit more about this poll. How do you forget Irving's bigotry amongst all of his other issues? Voting "other" is kind of like having a poll for MVP and putting Jokic as "other."

- No hate but I really don't like CP3 for the flops and the dirty plays.
- Embiid is awful to watch.

Overall I don't think we really meaningfully hate any of those players. Hate is something I would reserve for some of the politicians who CHOSE to ruin our country and generations of lives.

They are more down to:
- I see him as a total scum (Draymond)
- annoyingly narcissistic (LeBron)
- secretly enjoy watching him fail as his game is not watchable and doesn't deserve lot of the success he has had so far - Harden
- "the guy is a clown I can't help laughing at him every time I see him" - Brooks
- "you had everything and you chose to squander it so F you you don't know what you have now you rot in hell" - Simmons

Ok, this is a little off-topic, but I was very surprised to see how seriously that several posters take the word “hate.” I have been known to say that I hate broccoli or Mondays, but I don’t literally hate either thing, and I don’t expect listeners to believe that I do. I use the word “hate” as an exaggerated term (here, on a board full of exaggerations) to mean I strongly dislike them, perhaps indicating more dislike than the average person.

Several posters felt they needed to post that they were taking the word hate literally and to tell us that they don’t literally hate anyone. I wonder if this was because they are younger people conditioned to do this because of culture? Or in Ken’s case here, a need to tell people you don’t hate individual people, unless they are members of unpopular groups to the masses. Dangerous.

Words are only tools, and we give them the power that we choose. Maybe I’m naive, but I believe there is little true hatred towards others in the world, regardless of groups using the word for their own propaganda. Maybe there is a belief in the younger people that “Well, I don’t hate, but so many OTHER people do.” Did anyone truly take the OP’s title to mean that he, or any of us, truly hate any nba player? I was surprised how many responders felt they needed to tell us that they don’t literally “hate” anyone.

I'm not surprised that the most people hate Draymond, but if you took the average fan sentiment on him he wouldn't be the most hated player. He's polarizing.

The most universally hated players right now seem to be Harden and Poole - though Poole people more roll their eyes at. Kudos to Dillon Brooks for turning his reputation around quickly

Hate is a really strong word indeed. I think that the most apt word to describe it would be schadenfreude. I do experience schadenfreude when I see the favorites lose, especially if they have experienced arrogance. That means that I generally direct this at stars which explains why I voted for LeBron here.

I do also dislike Jimmy Butler but not for this reason. I dislike him because I feel that he has often punched down in his career and I do disdain that behavior. I do respect Butler's hair game and his trolling of media day, though.

Allegedly (no official sources as yet) it happened ~18 months ago when he was 19 and she was 17 - but there has been some manipulation of data, photoshopping etc. Only time will tell if its legit or not though

Good point. This case doesn't seem to be as clear-cut as some people are making it out to be. If this case were really clear-cut, Giddey would have already been charged by now. The fact that the Newport Beach Police Department recently put out a statement asking the public for tips (I am paraphrasing what the statement said) is a sign that the investigation (as of right now) has not been very fruitful, from the NBPD's perspective.

However, we'll see what happens in the next few days.

Well, I absolutely hate Draymond Green. The way he talks like he is a basketball divinity that knows everything on his podcast is so pretentious and lame. Can't stand the dude on and off the court. Dirty, reckless, so self-centered and thinks he's the "man in the room". LMAO. Can't tell who's worse there in San Francisco. Him, Kerr or the Warriors organization. The lack of punishment for a guy like that from either the team, coach and the league is just pathetic. And the best part is that he still thinks he's an all time great
