Sengun is the better player but Chet is more versatile.

Embiid couldn't sniff Jokic's class if he tried. Add in his flopping, ducking matchups, and playoff struggles, and it's not even worth an argument.

Offsetting biases; Rockets fan but prefer defensive 5s. Sengun is interesting because on the one hand the Rockets are deeper in scorers than in defenders, so in a way he’s redundant and Chet would be a better fit, but otoh the Rockets (at least with Thompson out) are even lower in playmakers than defenders and Sengun is probably their best, so…tough call. I get people picking either way. In terms of the vote disparity, margins in votes don’t necessarily reflect the perceived gap in talent. You might just have a lot of people who think one player is slightly better.

I think Sengun will be a top 10 player while Holmgren has potential to be an elite 2nd or 3rd guy. Give me Sengun.

yeah not sure how much that perceived better defense matters when tatum and co plow through the sixers almost every year

Did you seriously think Sengun had top 10 potential 20 games into his rookie year? It's obvious who the better and more consistent player is today but one guy has 165 games under his belt while the other is 20 games into his career.

I think it's just a lot easier to pick the 7 footer that can anchor a defense and space the floor at an elite level. Given how good Chet has been this year, it's a compliment to Sengun that folks picking against him dye to archetype preference; speaks to his immense skillset.

Yeah, another thing is that for Orlando imo it’s a clear Chet preference because Banchero and Sengun overlap a lot. When all the mocks had JSJr going 1st and Banchero to the Rockets my biggest concern was how much he and Sengun had similar offensive approaches and zones…think it would have been an awkward fit.
