Valaciunas just got paid $10M/yr. Hartenstein is not $20M/yr better than JV.

Yeah, he definitely is.

come on, be serious

Okay

If anything he's 30m/y better than JV.

Ridiculous money for Hartenstein but OKC can get away with it given their set-up

What transaction do you suggest?

Easy to say. Find someone locked in at his salary and talent level. Or even a combo of players who make NY a better team as a collective via fit.

I get the desire, but it’s really hard.

Would New York deal with Chicago for a deal around Derozan or Lavine?

They_Them_Hatin wrote:$30 million ? Not my money so I guess. Seems like an extreme overpay but of course that’s what it would take to get him out of NY.

I read in an article the most NY could pay was about $18 million. Maybe I was confused?

The Magic were pursuing him too, and likely would've paid the same money .

It’s not. His impact metrics peg him as a top 10-15 player in the league

lol what?

His advanced metrics are pretty crazy he is very high on a lot of them like DARKO or EPM

You think there's a market for either Randle or Robinson?

For a physically imposing forward who gives you 25/10/5+ per night who can get his own shot or a center who was in the DPOY race just last season (before injury) and has consistently been one of the best defensive bigs in the league for years?

I’m sure there’s a market for both

My favorite to get to the Finals out of the Western Conference now. Barring injury. Boston/New York vs. OKC/Dallas in the conference Finals.

I give it til January until people turn around on Chet at the 4. That’s a big mistake.

That's shocking to hear tbh lol. Apparently the 3rd year is a team option, which makes sense then.

Enjoy him OKC. I wasn't high on the signing when we did it, but he really was fantastic for us. Maximize his passing - he's underrated in that aspect

Yeah it feels like they should have been able to get him for four years $100 million.

Idk but this is still ridiculous. They were better off adding a few million and giving him the 4th year.

thunder have a two year stretch where they can absorb an overpay like this. whether it was hartenstein or someone else (tobias harris, maybe), they had to use their cap space constructively.

i think hartenstein is a great choice. he can move the ball around, he's elite on defense, he can finish, and he adds a dimension to the thunder offense (offensive rebounding) that teams will need to contend with. obviously the dollar amount is an overpay but it's what okc has to do to get free agents and that money would just be burning a hole in their pockets otherwise.
