All he has to do is wipe out the Suns tomorrow, which the Lakers do per usual, and then he will have all the headlines this week.

There's already a thread on this. Can a mod merge it?

The Lakers fans always overoptimistic early but at the same time the haters expose themselves easily. Everyone just needs to settle down.

lol at all this terminology. A lot of effort to say they set a screen, and then a pick and roll for AD to roll to the basket from the weakside for a lob.

If you use that approach most X and Os in sports boil down to overlapping give and gos. The fundamentals are always going to look like 1+1 on paper. The coaching in this is being able to synchronise and execute. Those screens make it so the defenders have something to think about or they'd have been able to just camp all along to blow the lob. The beauty here is the moving pieces gave Reaves then Lebron so many lethal options even if they used a different coverage.

It’s all going to depend on LeBron’s buy-in for Redick to be successful.

The Honeymoon Era with JJ is over.

Don't blame Lakers fans for getting excited after the last few awful regular seasons from Vogel and then Ham, bur as we seen in the last 2 seasons? The league is evolving into a younger/more athletic game. Despite Anthony Davis playing like a potential MVP candidate all season so far (he has been awesome) LeBron is slowing down, and after a promising start, Rui is regressing to bad habits from previous seasons, and Reaves is simply not good enough to be a third option.

DLO is fools gold but his expiring contract could be a very valuable trade asset for any team foolish to trade for him

I think the novelty value of Bronny playing with LeBron has also fizzed.

The crow went early for JJ.

Let’s not forget Ham won his first 5 homes games last year and I don’t remember people saying he should be COY.

Definitely the honeymoon period is over. Back to reality  People so desperately want JJ to succeed. He’s the likable, charismatic ‘cool’ guy, who comes off ‘intelligent’ to many. The Joe Rogan of the NBA community. And because of this, he won’t be criticized or scapegoated like Ham / Vogel. But the fact is he’s no better than either of them. One is a champion and the other led a team to the WCF their first year.

Only thing I give him credit for is utilizing AD as the true first option. Something that should’ve BEEN done since the acquisition.

I still have the the NBA putting Bronny in the rookie all-star game.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Not this year. I like him but that roster is just terrible. If he can make em a decent defense he's a super good coach.

Standing on business with my prediction. Although I don’t think the Lakers will really get going until Christmas. Will probably be .500 at that point.

I like you standing on business with you original prediction, but LeBron is just getting older at this point. That Lakers roster simply doesn't have enough to compete for a championship.

You won't find a bigger LeBron fan then me, but it's just a matter of time until he falls off. He's not getting any better at this stage of his career. Right now the Lakers need prime LeBron to beat these younger teams in the West.

I got OKC winning the West this year. They just look like that team imo.

They currently have the 6th worst defense in the league, so it's not a good start.

They have no lateral quickness. Dlo and Reeves are unplayable nowadays at NBA level. Let alone as starters and both on the court.

Pistons are so bad one loss to them changes the whole narrative of a coaching tenure.

Either that or people were jumping the gun before.

Yeah Lakers roster just isn't good. I think Reddick is gonna be at least a solid coach but people were way too quick to jump the gun with COY talk.

AD is playing like MVP but they just don't have a lot around him, especially with Lebron not consistently playing at a high level. Not sure how much you can possibly get out of this roster
