Even more impressive is Jaylen is the 3rd best defender in this class besides Clingan and Dunn. If he was given more shots I think he could do the Jared McCain thing if racking up numbers but Wells is contributing to winning basketball. Best 3&D in the draft, biggest steal of the draft and is only going to get better.

Third best defender in the class??? Dude, no he isn't. I get that he's a really good player for where he was picked, but that's just ridiculous, just like people who were saying GG Jackson was a top 5 player this year.

He has guarded the best perimeter player on every team since starting and doing a great job at it.

That may make him the best perimeter defender in his own team, not in the class. He's not a better defender than Castle, Sarr, Devin Carter (currently injured), Jamal Shead, or even maybe Holland or Risacher (disregarding Clingan and Dunn who you already mentioned).

Valid points so I will say top 5.

Considerably. He wouldn't be the first rookie who went on a heater for 8 games. I remember when Brandon Jennings was the next big things because of his first 10 games in the league. Averaged 25.2 points, 5.9 assists, 4.6 rebounds on .482/.519/.745 shooting in his first 10. Jordan Poole had an insane stretch either his rookie year or 2nd year too. Players go on heaters.

Michael Carter-Williams won ROY on 19-63 team.

ROY almost always boils down to who can padd most stats, context of those stats means nothing.

stop this. a couple of players flashing role player potential isn't changing the narrative.
It's still proving to be a weak draft class. That's not to say there won't be good role players, every draft produces some rotation players.

It is something very important in social ladder and public acceptance you see  But seriously, older timers got screwed up by +1 ratio, since a lot of our comments were made before and oning comments was introduced.

Yves Missi is better than Zach Edey

Missi is very promising. Seems like he already has good hands and very good athleticism.

There's an alternate reality where Lakers took Jaime Jaquez Jr in the 2023 NBA Draft at SF and drafted Yves Missi in 2024 to be the Center of the future.

Those two selections (+ Reaves) would be really beneficial in the short and long term for this Lakers squad.

Edey is a terrible defender in space, totally useless outside of 3ft. Big and slow and has poor hip mobility. He's not a guy who you're ever going to be able to play starters minutes because he's a net negative on the court.

Offensively he's limited to the paint, and he just clogs up the driving lanes.

one of the few 2024 prospects that actually landed in a great spot. It's a very deep and underrated draft class when Missi can be the 5th Center taken.

New Orleans has done a good job of drafting in recent years.

2024: Missi at #21
2023: Jordan Hawkins at #14
2022: Dyson Daniels at #8
2021: Officially they drafted Ziare Williams at #10, but made a trade that got them Trey Murphy (who went #17). In round 2 they picked Herb Jones.
2020: Kira Lewis at #13 (this pick was a dud).
