Dirk took down the overconfident Heatles.
An incredible achievement that cemented his legacy.

Dirk's playoff stats in 2011 were great particularly w/ his efficiency (in a time when teams scored around 100 I might add) - But they don't even fully capture his 2011 run. It was the TIMELY buckets he hit.
1. He averaged 10 points per 4th Q the entire playoffs, his stats in the last 5 minutes of games was absurd if you look it up. Multiple comebacks, multiple big shots under a minute left.
2. The competition the Mavs faced was Elite Elite - Portland was winning at a 55 win pace after they traded for Gerald Wallace midseason and a very strong 6 seed. Lakers. Thunder. Heat. Self explanatory. They beat the DEFENDING (2010) champions, the NEXT champions (2012), and the NEXT Western Conference Champion (2012) all in the same run. I doubt that has every been done before
3. He had no secondary scorer. His 2nd scorer Caron Butler was out the whole playoffs. Jason Terry, a microwave 6th man, was Dirk's side-kick. Literally no one on that team could reliably get their own shot off without Dirk being involved in the play. HE HAD TO CARRY them offensively and he did.
Add the fact that he was 32 years old and this was truly his last prime year, + beating the team that beat him in 2006, and it was a truly a playoff masterpiece by Dirk.

Dirkā¦
It changed the entire narrative of his career.
It put a stamp of how LeBron wilted in the biggest stage of his career at that moment with having two all nba level players alongside him.
