He’s easily one of the best big men we’ve seen and still under appreciated and underrated. Love watching this dude play. Had some very nice moments against the Spurs last night and had me thinking about how good he’s been for YEARS. One of the most versatile big men we’ve seen in a long time. Taking guys off the dribble, rim runner, floaters in the lane, jab steps, footwork, changes or deters like 30 shots a game. Plays nonstop defense while cleaning up everyone’s mistakes and expected to score the ball. Appreciate what you’re watching.

Here are several reasons why I doubt AD agrees with you that he needs out ASAP.

He wanted to be in LA, he won a chip, his jersey will be retired, he will get a statue in LA, he's married, and doubt he wants to be away from his three kids anymore than he needs to be.

Excuse me? Jersey Retired? a STATUE???? Dude when AD's tenure here is done there will be seriously talks if even if his jersey will be retired. Both him and Lebron. If that happens best believe a lot of fans will be looking sideways at that

And if AD gets a statue in LA just go ahead and demolish that the same day lol.

Abdul-Jabbar, Magic, Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal and Chick are the only ones with a statue in star plaza.

AD so far doesn't sniff any of them as a laker legend. Won a chip and got to the WCF. Nice well done Needs at least 1 more title for this to even be a conversation.
Sure man

Statue and jersey is automatic if he stays in LA.

Jersey retired sure i'll go with that.

Him staying in LA is entirely dependant on how long Lebron plays imo.

AD will get his number retired in LA but a statue ? Come on, you have to win at least 3 rings (in the same franchise) to be worthy of having a statue erected (anywhere imo)

Mind you i fully believe the Lakers will erect an Lebron statue after he retires (which I kind of think is a bit sad from the Lakers perspective)

Well Elgin got a statue and he didn't win anything but he's a laker lifer who's one of the best players ever. And it took til 2018 for it to happen though.

AD has next to no shot at getting a statue. Elgin even though he didn't win anything played in 7 finals. the AD era so far yes he's been great in 2020 and brought the team a chip along with Bron. Everything after that outside of the WCF has been straight up mediocrity.

When the ownership is focused on winning you have a point. AD's not exactly being setup for success like the past legends is he?

My prediction is If he finishes his career as a Laker. He's 31 years old now.

If he stays as a laker then he needs a competent team around him for it to be worth it. And i dont trust Rob to do that.

Hopefully he asks for a trade we get a haul, Rob gets fired and Myers comes in and he does the best with what he has.

Well maybe in Houston's case yes, although I am not sure Hakeem would want one (given the fact in his religion, Islam, Statues are strictly forbidden)

Reckon there is a bit over-boarding with recent statue making though. I understand what he did for Miami, but I am not sure why The Heat are making one for Pat Riley (or arguably the Lakers for that matter)

Just my own personal opinion though.

Hakeem got a monument actually, but I just think the 3 ring idea is weird. If Jokic only wins 1 more ring in Denver does he not get a statue? Or if Giannis never wins another ring?

I agree that statue-making has gone a little too far. AD does not need a statue, nor does Lebron in LA. I think if a player makes a generational impact on your team, he should have a statue with or without rings.

Agreed find a way to get him over to Atlanta to pair with Trae and Jalen Johnson.

Hakeem set the standards in houston. A standard that has yet to be achieved again. AD isn't on that level because reaching the standards of other lakers great is a huge task. We are talking giving someone a statue to put next to guys like

Jerry West
Baylor
Magic
Kobe
Shaq
Kareem

If AD was a laker lifer it would probably be different. Maybe if he has 5 more seasons of great basketball and the team is relevant a statue might be a discussion but i doubt it. Baylor got his statue unveiled in 2018.

I've yet to hear other laker fans even mention AD getting a statue. It's not even on the radar.

AD would probably be in talks to get a statue if Rob Pelinka and Jeannie Buss weren't the stupidest people of all time.

I'll always fondly remember Jeanie for the playboy shoot she did in the mid 90s !

Kinda hard to take her seriously as an NBA owner after that lol

He's been overshadowed by greater PF/C talents like Jokic, Embiid, and Giannis; Wemby will be #AnotherOne. If only he had been able to sustain that level of shooting he displayed in the Bubble. But he's never been able to, and that's what holds him back from being an annual fixture in the Best In The World (BITW) discussion.

His offensive game never been better, so I am not sure how its behind him. Unless you mean NBA is just far more talented now? Anyhow, I will agree with overall sentiment that he never had mindset to be true best player on NBA contender.

Does he though

He forced his way to LA, knew LeBron was getting older and also signed a big extension. Seems like he got what he wanted

Why are we talking about stuff that happened 5 years ago when Lebron could still be the best player in the world. He cant do that anymore and his piss poor effort on defense is inexcusable.

AD deserves better because it's basically him and Christie out there on defense. He's trying to anchor a piss poor defensive unit with lebron being at the forefront whilst averaging 26/12 with 2 blocks and 1 steal a game.

Yes he deserves better. I hope we trade him for a major haul.

I am no LeBron fan, but he is 40, oldest player in the league who played 22 seasons, his bad defense is excusable at this point. But I agree that AD is left there alone against wolf pack often, and sometimes his frustration is apparent, he tries to cover for so many teammates who lose their individual assignments too often. AD is a winning basketball player stuck in unwinable situation, you are right about that.

6 years in LA, so far - 1 title, 2 time ALL NBA, 4 time all star. We talking statue? Are you insane? Statue? Yeah, I can see Jersey retirement one day, he ain't getting a statue, like aint even close my man, wtf? Is Pau getting his statue then, what are you smoking?

All time greats get statues. Players that defined entire generations and decades, AD always was second tier guy in his era, let alone all time. When people think of 10s and 20s in 30 years, no one will bring AD as defining player, people will bring LeBron, Steph, Jokic, maybe KD and thats it. AD will be just a guy who was good that not many people know.

Genuinely curious about what more this dude can do. He plays ELITE defense when he's on the court, has to consistently help off ball because every perimeter player gets blown by. Has no real PF helping him deter drives. And he's expected to dominate every match up he has.

He takes guys off the dribble, does faceup pull-ups with very little space needed, finishes through contact, and runs the floor like a gazelle.
