Maybe the plan is to send Riley on a wild goose chase but all along he was never going to sign an extension with anyone. After the trade deadline, you know you can irritate Riley even more by forcing his team to answer questions about why they're not waiving him.
He's obviously willing to bet on himself and become an FA this summer rather than agree to an extension with one of only Miami's preferred teams. I guess he'll only agree if he gets his dream spot, otherwise better off becoming a UFA this summer and studying all his options on the open market.
Do that and pass up his 52 million dollar player option? Seems risky to me.
At that point Miami might be glad that he's gone.

It seems like Butler is saying "trade me, but only to one place". He's old enough to know that this isn't how this works.
If he stands by this then I guess he'll be stuck in Miami past the deadline.

If Jimmy wanted to be paid and win, he would have agreed to be traded to Memphis.
But he is a selfish moron with the brain the size of an ant's Decker.

Yes he'll pass it up for a 3-4 year deal from a team he likes. Maybe Warriors even.
Hopefully Miami gets nothing for him. After all to them he's unprofessional, he's a liar, he is a diva, he's not available all the time so they shouldn't be mad about losing him for nothing. That sounds like a really sucky player. That doesn't sound like a guy worth a pick.

Who the **** are you to say who should or shouldn't sign AN EXTENSION with a team?
We're back on the plantation now?
Nowhere does it say Jimmy won't play for the team he's traded to.
He just won't sign an extension, which he's perfectly entitled to do, since it's his career.
Now if teams don't like that and end talks like the Warriors did, it's understandable and perfectly fine.
But it's also fine for Butler to choose where he wants to sign a prolonging of his contractual obligations. Let's not be hypocritical dumb jocks here.

The Warriors will pay him with what money? Aren't they over the cap? The same can be said for most teams.
Jimmy will give up 52 million to get a 2-3 mid level exception level contract? Sounds like a bad move to me.

It’s fine for teams to only want to trade for him if he’ll sign an extension, and it’s fine for Jimmy to not want to commit to that. Fully agreed.
The problem is he is refusing to give full effort and play for the team he is under contract with, and demanding to be traded while also having those other demands. In that scenario absolutely the contract should be voided, he’s not honoring it.
If he would show up and do his job while requesting to be traded, then there’s no problem. He is failing to do that. And no the suspensions aren’t the reason he’s not showing up, that started before all that. There was a game earlier this season he missed where he claimed to be ill and it got leaked he was actually partying at a club that night. It’s unprofessional.

I’m all for the warriors getting kicked in the nuts but not wanting to play with curry seems silly.

I agree his treatment of Miami has been egregious, even worse than VC back in the day or Harden on the Nets. Even if he wants out, there's no excuse for that.Tim_Hardawayy wrote:ROballer wrote:Prince187 wrote:Teams should be able to void the contracts of players who act like this

That being said, even the OP doesn't have the slightest basic skills of reading comprehension.
The point of the thread and the tweet is his unwillingness to sign an extension.
Nowhere does it says or is it implied by Jimmy's camp that he won't play for his new team because he wants a certain destination only.
It's just maybe a rental. That's it.
Teams may go for it or not. Their choice.
Where he ends up longterm is his choice.

I didn't want him at all. And I'm not even a Jimmy hater. There is no 35 year-old that should be added to GSW. It's time for a rebuild.

I eagerly anticipate witnessing another Sprewell “I have a family to feed.” scenario, where Jimmy ultimately finds himself out of the league.

Jimmy wants to get paid.
Jimmy wants to screw over the heat.
Suns are the only team willing to extend him. And beal is the worst contract in the nba.
He kills 2 birds with 1 stone. Winning isn't even a consideration.

The GM of any team that trades for him should immediately be fired.

Then again after the Luka trade it’s clear the NBA just picks and chooses winners and losers sometimes.
I mean, Jimmy said he’s open to being traded anywhere but Miami, but as a FA he has right to extend wherever he wants.. very different from dame who wasn’t on an expiring.

Re: Jimmy butler has told GSW he will not sign an extension
It's easy to say since it isn't my money or my franchise, but if no trade deal is reached, it would be amazing if Miami suspended Butler for the rest of the season and refused to trade Butler or buy him out. Let him sit out of the NBA for 2 years and come back and play for the minimum.
