There's also the conspiracy that SPurs shut down Wemby and are awarded with the #2 pick. They are trying to build them an all time team. how come nobody mentions this? Spurs are routinely awarded with picks way above their paygrade.

Yeah, the lotto conspiracy stuff is largely based on a small handful of lottery outcomes deemed suspicious by the masses...Ewing in 85, I guess Orlando getting #1 in 93 for the second year in a row despite having the lowest odds, LeBron and Derrick Rose going to their hometowns in 03 and 08, Cavs winning in 14 from #9 right when LeBron was considering coming back, and the Pelicans winning the Zion lottery from #7 right when they were losing AD to the Lakers in 19. But that's 6/40 lotteries. What about the other 34?

the Cavs winning lottery off the LAC pick to get Kyrie after losing LeBron.

But that's 9/41 lotteries (including yesterday's).
What about the other 32? Not every lottery needes to be rigged apparently. Not every year you even have a case for it.

Currently, Mavs are 28-25. Even if they go 0-39, they would be in the 8th worst record based on last year's league record. If Mavs win the lottery this year, I can't imagine the backlash NBA would face.

Ive never defended conspiracies in sports and Ive never waved them off entirely either. I know I will never know for sure, so I always try to approach this from “would I be surprised if this was true, yes or no”. I’ve been watching sports for close to 40 years and there has been some pretty evident stuff that’s happened in all that time and before that as well. All in all, not much would surprise me anymore

Whats more likely between the 3:

1. They would NEVER ever under any circumstance fix anything in the NBA.

2. EVERYTHING is fixed in NBA, there isn’t anything that goes on that isn’t fixed. If Curry is shooting a 3, its cause somewhere someone made it happen so.

3. Or… that the NBA has tweeked some things here and there for profit or because of backroom deals being made between a few parties.
