I dont ultimately hate the KD trade but it didnt work out, every other move after has been nuts. Like You knew there was no upside nuts.

I remember reading an article about how James Jones operated the front office, and it was basically that he wouldn't consider acquiring any player who couldn't contribute from day one (even draft picks, hence the selection of Cam Johnson). It obviously worked briefly as they got to the finals, but it struck me as a very myopic way to run a franchise.

But is it wrong? Lets look at the draft picks they have taken. They have picked up

He;s had a 10th pick 11th pick, 2 late firsts and a second which he turned into

Ryan Dunn (Started half the games, probably Phoenix's second best defender

Camara (All defensive second team)

Jalen Smith (Yeah, Flop)

Cam Johnson, Who's a good NBA starter

Ty Jerome (Close to 6th man of the year, traded for CP3)

I don't think any other team has done better with what Phoenix has with those picks.

PLUS the small moves have been great until it was clear they started doing some **** insane moves to Land Beal

Took care of that for you

So as a Texans fan, I love the idea of Jerry Jones constantly meddling in Cowboy's day to day operations.

I told my wife if the Cowboys win a Super Bowl we're leaving Texas. Their fans are the most annoying around.

Some might call this Sarver's revenge. I call it the curse of Colangelo. He should have never sold the franchise. They were respectable for decades with him as the big dog.

Can you even trust this owner at all to do any roster moves. That Beal trade:

Suns 2024 (Didn't convey)/2026/2028/2030 swaps, Warriors 2030 first (Top 20 protected), and all Suns 2nd round picks between 2024-2030

Has to be one of the worst trades made in the last 15 years. Mortgaged your whole future for a borderline all star player with a no trade clause. He should ban himself from making any moves after that.

Oh, no, no, no. He's DOUBLED DOWN on his involvement. And at this rate, we won't be able to beat a high school team.

Well, according to Mat, hired professionals did that, and we all trust Mat here. Hes gonna fix it, he obviously knows better than professionals.

I feel bad, don’t know why he broke up that 2021 roster, Bridges, Johnson, booker, Ayton at least would have stayed competitive. Reminds me of the Brooklyn situation in the 2010s now.

They’re going to give him a 2-year $150 million extension. He’s about to turn 29.

Still good player but we’ve seen his ceiling, 2 wins short of a championship and it’s been downhill the last 3 seasons since that Finals appearance.

If they can get their draft picks back to reset, that is what they’d should be doing.

There are better, younger players like Luka, Ant and SGA in the WC.

There’s no building around Booker.

Were there really? Some people will always fell for star power, but that trade was super risky and seen as bad by many, without any hindsight needed. We were laughing at Wizards for giving worst contract in the NBA, saying how they are absolutely stuck, but then Suns came and gave them free out of jail card. It would be similar if someone traded for Embiid today, maybe there would still be ''tons'' who believe Embiid will make someone a title contender, but the writing is on a wall.

Don't know how much Bill Simmons knows, but he compared Ishbia to Prokorov. He reminisce that teams like Boston didn't budge in negotiations and asked for everything Nets had, because they knew their owner will agree at the end. Both owners were obsessed with short cutting their way into a title no matter the cost. Bill said other teams look at Ishbia in a similar way now.

because the Suns were "all in" and some "experts" were saying they were already committed and made sense to do this to optimize a two years window.
First one I found, right now:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10079802-winners-and-losers-from-suns-and-wizards-bradley-beal-trade

Winner (for Now): Phoenix Suns
The Suns' side of this deal is sort of the inverse of Washington's.

In the immediate aftermath of the deal, it's easy to look at them as winners. They're adding a three-time All-Star who's only two years removed from averaging 30-plus points over a two-year span.

They'll have to sort out usage and playmaking responsibilities, but having those three on the floor at the same time will make the Suns a nightmare to slow down. And if any coach can coax a decent defense out of this bunch, it may be 2020 champion Frank Vogel.

they were also mentioning the long term risks, of course, but the view on the trade was generally positive.

It was hard to predict the Suns would suck so bad, but we said that they have 3 ball dominant scorers with no defense, they really overlooked major aspects of roster building putting everything on 3 decent stars.

About damn time he started getting involved!

I'm joking. The day after he bought the team, held a press conference about how he would not do anything to sacrifice the future, the next day traded (from the previous year 64 win team) Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, 4 unprotected firsts and an unprotected swap for an injured 34 year old KD.

This was a relatively young team that had not made the playoffs for like a decade, then finally made it and got to the finals in one year (yes, overachieved, but it made expectations WAY too high from fans, etc), and then won 64. Yes, they blew a game 7 to the Mavs in the 2nd round. It happens with teams without a lot of playoff experience. It doesn't mean you blow up a young core to drastically shorten a window and kill your depth, while making your team infinitely older.

I'm fine with Ayton gone, but it's the others that are the problem. We needed them and we would have continued to stay in the hunt had they not been dealt.
