Milwaukee went almost 20 years without winning a series after that Ray Allen run. They got Giannis, and now they supposed to give him away and blow everything up? Foh. If Giannis wants to stay, Milwaukee should gladly keep him. They've already won a title and have been a 50 win team since then. Guy's acting like they're bottom feeders or something.

Bucks get their ‘next’ star if Banchero can keep developing who is win-now enough (not owning own picks).
Magic can acquire Giannis and not empty the clip in doing so (respect to value Banchero+ holds). Giannis and Magic (and Florida) can recruit the best win-now guard with remaining assets to make like 5-8 deep playoff runs.
Eh, Banchero with 2 solid role players plus Milwaukee's supporting cast without Giannis is likely a high lotto team in the East, quite clearly a very crappy version of who the Magic just were. That's the crux of the problem with 99.9% of Giannis trades suggested, they just aren't feasible to do without the Bucks either giving away Giannis for practically nothing OR, the other team is trading their entire roster and thus the remaining team left + Giannis wouldn't even be a favorite to contend.

If he's available, any combination of Towns/OG/Bridges is not gonna be the best deal on the table, especially since the Knicks have no picks. Houston and SA would outbid them in a second
The Knicks wouldn't necessarily need to have the best package if Giannis tells the Bucks he wants the Knicks and only the Knicks. I think Towns (All-NBA), OG and change is a fair deal for both, making the Knicks a true title contender while still keeping the Bucks relevant and in the race.

Not bottom feeders at the moment but if they don't make any moves they will be soon. Giannis at this point still has tremendous value, but his value will start to decline likely from now on. To me the peak moment to make the Giannis trade is now, as it's painfully obvious they are not winning the title anymore with the current roster. Now there is a window to breathe new life into the Bucks organization, but how I see it that window might closing pretty fast.

It's already all about Giannis and his mindset. Can't blame him if he wants to be loyal and does not want any changes at this point in his career. Admirable, but dumb.

Lillard told the Blazers he only wanted Miami..Blazers took the best deal. I imagine Bucks would do the same

No way do The Bucks want KAT, OG and their bloated contracts.
It's academic anyway since it's all but confirmed Giannis is staying.
KD is the biggest name that will be traded this off season (most likely to the Spurs)
Knicks are not in any position to acquire a superstar with their cap and lack of future draft pick flexibility

Wouldn't get your hopes that 1) Giannis would do that to Milwaukee and 2) That Milwaukee would accept such a terrible deal.

Giving up Banchero with the idea you'd have 5-8 playoff runs with Giannis is crazy. I'd be shocked if hes an all NBA player at 35, even more so at 38. His body is breaking down and he has no jumper. Banchero is one of the best young players in the league. You don't give him up for the tail end of giannis prime.

If he doesn’t want to leave I can’t blame the Bucks for keeping him. Teams have also won a championship without trading away their star. The Spurs didn’t trade away David Robinson and won a championship with him, the Celtics didn’t trade away Pierce and won a championship with him, and the Lakers didn’t trade away Kobe when they missed the playoffs in 05.
While you're correct, your comparison's are fairly odd.
Sure, but at the same time, the Bucks probably don’t win a championship in the next 10 years if they do trade Giannis.

I think it is fairly certain that they will not win another title with him considering the limited Bucks roster, so if the Bucks are serious of becoming a true contender in the near future then they should look for the package that would make it possible for them to reach the absolute top again. I'm sure these packages should be available, but if they stubbornly refuse even the thought of trading Giannis, then it might be that one day they will regret it. I think the Bucks should seriously consider what is the best option for the team moving forward, say for the next 2-5 years, or even longer.

Alternatively, if Giannis isn't happy, it's an easy trade. He's been your organisation's GOAT and great for the city. You respect that and work with him on his request.
Damian Lillard's Blazers were a great example of success without contention. They were never a threat to win a championship with Lillard, but they made the playoffs for 8 straight seasons, they drew fans, and he gave the franchise a lot of great moments and memories.
That is best case for the Bucks future.

They should offer him an extension and if he rejects it shop him around or they can wait for him to demand a trade in the offseason and get pennies on the dollar.
And what exactly is that based on? People are really comfortable making **** up

This guy was also unbelievably wrong (and confident) that the 76ers were Championship contenders this season. He is good at being laughably wrong.

lol at your reasoning. Don’t want to give up Banchero? Sure. Have a quality take. Aging Giannis like he’s a bum, poor take. Be better.

Come to think of it, before Dallas this season (and we saw how bad the backlash was), has any team just straight up traded a top 3-4 player in their prime without either that player requesting a trade or being likely to leave in free agency?
It's rare because most superstars in the past would have already signed with someone else/demanded a trade by now. Giannis, Jokic, and Luka are the first generation of European superstars and loyalty is important to them.
Also, Giannis at 30 is exiting his prime.
For Giannis' legacy, I want to see him on a contender. Same for Jokic. Both guys are too good to be forgotten by history, but that's exactly what will happen if they don't win another ring. If NBA fans and pundits were rational people who didn't only consider titles when evaluating players, this wouldn't be a concern.
F them, who cares.

Fans whine that players are no longer loyal. And when they are, you get threads like this.
Giannis has literally never mentioned trade once, yet you have ESPN and fans trying to get him off the team for the past five years it seems.
He's the best player this team has ever had. If he wants to be a Milwaukee lifer you continue to do whatever you can to field a contender around him.
He delivered a title to a small market team. They win 50 games every year. This whole "you need to win titles" every year narrative is for ESPN casuals and barbershop talk. Who wants these guys to be Kevin Durant-like mercenaries, going from team to team to perhaps win one more title. Giannis legacy is already set. A champion and the best player in Milwaukee Bucks history. Why can't that just be good enough sometimes?
Dirk won 1 title for the Mavericks, does anyone poop on his legacy? No. He's a legend for spending two decades with one team. We still talk about that one title he won. Would his legacy be any better if he was traded to the Warriors and won one more when he was like 38 years old? No. No one would remember or care about that.
Loyalty is important. Unless you're a fan of a team like the Lakers. But us small market fans, we will always remember the legends that want to stay with our team. Even if it means our team may win 50 games every year instead of bottoming out and watching our franchise GOAT play somewhere else. Sometimes that's okay.

Cause let's be honest, this is a horrible horrible situation right now.
This is misguided. Treadmill team with a top 3 player who the fans love is a pretty damn good situation for a franchise like Milwaukee. It will be a long time before they get a player of his caliber again. If he's happy to stay then they are absolutely right to keep him.
It's not misguided at all. I don't think it's as cut and dry as just having a top 3 player and calling it a day. Sure, having Giannis is a huge asset, and I agree it’s rare to have a player of his caliber, especially in a small market city like Milwaukee but it doesn't make it a "pretty damn good situation". It’s also about what you have and how you surround him with the right pieces to truly compete for championships. The Bucks might have a narrow window, but there’s a real risk of becoming stagnant or losing Giannis when he realizes it’s not going anywhere and it's just a matter of time if that continues before his loyalty is tested. Without Giannis they might give the Wizards and Jazz a run for their money at the lottery and that's not a good situation at all. Yes, the fanbase loves him, but loyalty only goes so far when you're stuck on the treadmill of mediocrity. They can't just sit back and hope it works out.
The Bucks have made every move Giannis has asked for. So they've shown loyalty. Giannis staying is simply returning the favor.

It is very recent that the Knicks have risen to the level of actually competing for the championship. I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks would receive interest even these better free agents going forward.
