every scout hated him in the draft, now every gm hates him after 2 years in league and offered nothing for him

so you gotta ask why the nba hates this kid so much really?

is he a pure chucker?

Basically, yeah. Useless on-ball, mid from 3, not good inside the arc, not good at drawing fouls... poor attitude. Not much there besides the physical tools.

He didn't share his medicals is part of the reason he dropped.

It’s disappointing that Cam Whitmore didn’t buy in to what Ime Udoka and his assistant coaches expected of him. Hopefully, he matures in D.C. and takes advantage of the playing time he will get for a rebuilding team.

Rafael Stone took a gamble, and it didn’t pay off. The reality for Whitmore is every player in the NBA is talented, and nothing is guaranteed to a player in his position. He better change his work ethic and mindset, or he will not be an NBA player for long.

I thought maybe my Bulls should have offered the Port pick for Whitmore. Washington with another good move

Wizards Front Office keep on hitting home runs lately. .

This is where collecting 2nd round picks as tangible trade assets is really valuable for a rebuilding team like The Wiz (hopefully Charlotte takes note)

Yes, Whitmore is the kind of player that will get 10-15 minutes and put up 8-10 shots in that time. If the ball touches his hands, he’s shooting it. Defensively, he doesn’t give the requisite effort nearly enough.

He’s basically a poor man’s Cam Thomas, and Thomas is also one of the biggest chuckers in the NBA.

Because Whitmore refused to buy into what Ime Udoka and the Rockets’ assistant coaches asked of him.

Right now, Whitmore only cares about one thing on a basketball court. Putting up shots and getting his points. When he would get into games, the ball stuck in his hands, and he took as many shots as he possibly could.

Bub Carrington / CJ McCollum / AJ Johnson
Tre Johnson / Kyshawn George / Marcus Smart
Bilal Coulibaly / Justin Champagnie / Cam Whitmore / Will Riley
Khris Middleton / Corey Kispert / Dillon Jones
Alex Sarr / Kelly Olynyk / Richaun Holmes

This smells to me like the Rockets will be the team to sign Beal after he gets bought out

Not bad for a inefficient chucker. He’s going to average 25/5/3 as a starter one day.

We're supposed to care about a 5-game sample?

The positives:

Whitmore will get a chance to compete for minutes on a young team, and maybe learn a thing or two from the vets. Not every vet will look out for young guys, yet maybe the ones the Wizards have will impart some wisdom on the young guns.

He's an athlete. That gets him a chance to score the ball. He'll adapt part of his skillset around guys who do a good job of moving the ball around.

The negatives:

He's still a bit of a black hole on offense and can miss his rotations a bit too often on defense, often not giving full effort. Didn't seem really content in Houston. Think it was just a "right concept for role, wrong team" situation for him. He'll get a chance in call to earn minutes. If he's not playing, that should be a telling sign how well he fits in with what Washington is building.

Overall, can't be mad at the move. Hope he can figure out how to get others involved a bit more.

Cam might be the only player on Washington that averages 20ppg. Jordan Poole was the only player on the team that did.

Allegedly he's a chucker.

Allegedly?

He takes 18 shots per 36 and has 82 CAREER assists. The guy is the definition of a chucker.

Oh, and his efficiency stinks.

I have never understood the weird love affair with this guy. he sucks.
I've just never watched him, so had to add a qualifier hahaha

We have clearly done with phase 2 of the rebuild and I guess outside of Reed there just isn't anymore time to develop guys.

I am still positive on Cams upside, but he probably wont get there in Houston.

Washington should have plenty of opportunity for him, grats to the Wizards.

Lmao the guy got traded for 2 2nd round picks. If they thought that they would have just kept him.
