I don't see the Lakers getting enough wins for Luka to take MVP
SGA or Jokic again imo

Hopefully not as much whining this season as there was last season.

And he'll get A LOT of freedom in Houston's offense, so he'll probably score even more than usual...
Plus he'll get to rest himself on defense, because Houston are such athletic defenders, the opposite of Phoenix!
KD is straight up is not good enough anymore to be in the conversation. That he's still a very good player in season 19 is amazing, but he's not MVP caliber.
I think SGA will win it. OKC will win 60+ and SGA is going to steamroll a lot of teams like he did last year.

If Jokic has a better season (again), it'll be hard to give it to SGA unless they win 70...

SGA shot 8-27 in Game 7 vs. Indiana, despite Haliburton hardly playing, and SGA had 8 turnovers in Game 6.
Replace SGA with KD, and I'm certain OKC beat Indiana, and easier.
Let's not forget, last season KD averaged 26.6 points, .527 field, .430 threes, 1.2 blocks, so imagine what he'd shoot if he had SGA's supporting cast...

Wemby looked like the love child of Dirk and Olajuwon, truly a sight to behold. The Spurs probably won't be able to win enough games for him to be MVP just yet, but man, I hope he'll be able to play 72-75 games. He did not take too many threes either, which was a critic last year. What an amazing player.

Re: Who do you think wins MVP this season? (2025-26 NBA MVP Discussion Thread)
I had to pick up my jaws after watching Spurs vs Mavs.
Anthony Davis felt like little lost boy on both ends because of that guy.
This is most dominant performance by single player in one game (where opponent aren't on 7-59 Bobcats level) since some 2000-Shaq days by big man.
Guy dunked on entire Dallas team. Several times. People are too afraid to attempt layups near him. If game was competitive for bit more, he was in store for 50-20 stat line.
As for a rest, i watched 8 min of last year's preseason of Castle and figured that guy is legit. Very few young guards have such a deep bag of tricks & moves, and ball protection skills as he had, even as a rookie.
Edgecombe looked NASTY in his first game.

Hmmm… Why didn’t you mention the great scoring and clutch play Shai had in games 4 and 5 vs IND to put them up 3-2, or how he slightly outplayed Jokic in round 2, and obliterated Ant in round 3, whereas KD got packed up by Jokic in round 2, demolished by Ant and Tatum in separate round 1s? Those were not unbalanced matchups. PHX was def favored if not a toss up vs MIN. And that was a younger KD than he is now.
Let’s also not forget those same numbers you posted of last year, KD also averaged on the Steph Warriors where he had zero responsibilities but to score as an ancillary piece to a well-oiled machine. Shai has the responsibility of being the machine by running point and closing the show. He raises the floor and the ceiling.
Put another way: OKC would not win 68 games with last year’s KD and would likely lose to Denver. Shai is better than current Kevin lol, full stop. Şengün is the more likely mvp candidate for Houston. Playoff series MVPs are the only MVPs that KD can win at this point, which is why we brought him here for.
