Jokic is a regular season player that plays no defense and doesn't impact winning. This is a guy that has won multiple MVP's without being a top 2-3 seed. You worship Harden in center form. Thread is wrong anyway, because we've been living in Luka's timeline, but it looks like we might be entering Wembys now.

And now I remember why I stopped frequenting this forum… too many trolls, and they ain’t even funny anymore.

Well, if you're talking about surpassing Jokic then yes? The numbers need to at least be comparable or he needs to score or rebound way more than Jokic to make up for the lack of assist numbers.

If he's going to average 5 blocks and another 5 deflections per game, the lack of assists won't matter, will they?
30/15/5/5/2 is better than a triple double.
Two way dominance.

I'm not trying to compare Jokic and Wemby on defense, big differance, but in deflections part of defense Jokic was 7th in the league, by far the best amnong centers. And 2rd in steals.

My thought exactly.

Weird thing to say about a basketball player, but I really hope he’s done growing now.

So, 1 of 82 games played...

This thread came even more premature than Trump at Epstein Island.

I think Wemby has already proven a lot but one of Jokic’s most dominant traits is his durability. Going out there and dominating for 70+ games for over five seasons is what made Jokic special in an age where durability is becoming more rare.

Wembanyama just has to stay healthy at this point and that might be the last question he has to answer.

What did Jokic do last season? Put up a great regular season offensive display, yeah, but he played some of the worst defense in the league in the regular season. Completely coasted on defense which was a big part of the reason their defense regressed and they fired their coach.

Skill for skill, Wemby is the best player in the world already and it isn't even close. I dont know if Jokic has ever had a more impactful defensive game in his career than the one I seen last night from a guy who has only played 115 games in his career.

Like and respect Jokic greatly, no issues there but was totally over the persistent GOAT/top 10 all time/best player alive convos so yeah unless he leads his team to another finals appearance at the very least let's calm down severely on that front lol

A lot of talented big men in the league and then an alien called Wemby. Let the new era roll in

Hopefully Wemby stays healthy. He should have won DPOY last season, shame that injury robbed him of that award.

Jokic will be a better player this season too.
So is Giannis.
But saying that Wemby can't reach this level because he's lacking the assist numbers is wrong imo.
He will post ridiculous defensive stats and that's more than enough to reach this level next season.

So let’s chill on the Jokic hype despite 5-6 years of utter dominance including 3 MVPs and a FMVP, but Wemby after 1 game: “Let’s calm down on the Jokic hype and let the new era roll in”

Crazy part is he looked like he barely broke a sweat doing it. Last two seasons dude was getting gassed especially towards the end of games. He looked like he was in 2nd gear all night and still completely crushed the Mavs. Scary for the rest of the NBA

Jokic has NEVER displayed that level of offensive talent as a big. Wemby was out there playing like he was 6’5 in a 7’6 body. It defied everything

This is a ridiculous comment. Jokic has been doing things for years that no other 7 footer has done on the offensive side as well as putting up stat lines that no other player has done, period. It took the avengers in team USA to take him out of the Olympics by adding Embiid.

There is no need to detract from Jokic's greatness to prop up Wemby.

They have both done stuff no one has seen, even if you think Wemby is more impressive.

There are many big men that are molded like Jokic. Jokic just happened to find himself in the right system to take advantage of it. Michael Malone is more important for Jokic than Jokic. Jokic’s style has existed in Europe for years. Wemby’s style is basically the idealized version of how to play basketball. Shooting, finishing, isolation, he’s shown flashes of being a passer too. On the defensive end, he might be the greatest.

Again, we are talking about surpassing someone that put up one of the best seasons of all-time.

Sure, if he puts up 30/15/5/5/2 and his team wins, he will be in the conversation with Jokic.

Bad timing, no one expected at that time that Wemby will be out and they'll get a great prospect in Harper with #2 pick. But they didn't invest in Fox that much and trading him for couple of first rounders won't be a difficulty if he stays healthy.

Trade for win now players. Wemby is ready now and his window may not be that long. Spurs should trade for players who are able to help them win now and for the next 5-6 years.

That's actually Wembanyama's biggest problem, not knowing whether his body-type can be durable.

Let's see someone else "not play defense" and do it then, shouldn't be difficult.
