I just think it's funny that through 60 posts in this thread there is everyone else celebrating the steps forward Cade is making and then there is only tsherkin going:

"no. He's the same player he was last year. I mean. I guess he's a good player but he's not like you guys are saying he is.... I guess he is sort of good at what you are saying but really he's not very good at X.... Oh... well I guess he's good at X but when I said he wasn't good at X how I framed my words really meant that he's not very good at X.Y".

It's really, really hard to look at the tone of his posts in totality and not come to the conclusion that there's an axe to grind here.

He could just not post. Yet he feels compelled to repeatedly try and temper folks expectations on Cade.

Did Cade come and piss on his lawn at some point? Is tsherkin the only thing standing between the world and the looming threat of unbridled praise for Cade? Is this remnants of the Scotty vs Cade debate? Stay tuned for the next episode! :D

It does feel that way to a degree, but it may be just caution.

I mean I get it, but on the other hand, you can find negatives in everyone.

All I know, is that Cade is legit, and it feels good to have one of "those guys" on the Pistons for once.

The paint is crowded in Detroit, and Cade is consistently making nice finds through tight windows. Last year, I didn't think Cade was as good at this, but I feel his development in this area is raising his profile as an offensive centerpiece.

Yes, I can't help but agree with this. His playmaking and vision in general are undoubtedly his best feature, and right up there with almost anyone in the league. I have nothing but positive things to say about that aspect of his game :)

Detroits rebuild finally is paying off. Good for them. It’s the natural progression that should happen in the NBA. Hope they can keep him and he has a long and healthy career.

The 14/45 line doesn't look good. To be fair to Cade though, we were missing six rotation players (Tobias, Ivey, Stew, Ausar, LeVert, Sasser) so he had to take on even more of the offensive load than usual, as well as the team playing their 3rd game in 4 nights and had just flown in from Philly. Other aspects of his game were great (11 assists to 2 turnovers, 12 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 blocks) but in general he looked gassed and a lot of his shots that would usually go in came up short.

So the criticism is fair, but the simple truth is we don't come close to winning this game without him.

This is what I said in the thread which is specifically about his performance. Two starters missing on a team which already isn't particularly strong offensively. Cade was just doing what was asked of him. And while the FG% is ugly as sin, he got like a third of his shots in the RA, even if he wasn't hitting them. That in and of itself is somewhat promising, especially vis a vis my earlier criticism. OT game, no help, doing his best. We know what he isn't, but man, he gave huge effort to get it done. And while he only shot 25% in OT, he did lead the team in scoring during the OT period.

And they won.

Kinda reminds me of Grant Hill in the best of ways.
